Subaru is scheduled to launch the Uncharted model in 2026. It will be a revolutionary electric SUV. It’s almost the same size as the Crosstrek and a twin of the Toyota C-HR. The vehicle comes with two engine options: a 221-hp front-wheel-drive single motor or a 338-hp all-wheel-drive dual motor setup. Beginning early next year, people in the United States will be able to play The Uncharted. The Subaru Uncharted name makes you think of a tough off-road vehicle, but this new electric SUV is breaking new ground in surprising ways. The Uncharted will be Subaru’s smallest electric vehicle, operating similarly to the Toyota C-HR, which has already been announced. Furthermore, the Uncharted will represent Subaru’s first front-wheel-drive vehicle in many years. This is despite the fact that Subaru is known for giving standard all-wheel drive across its entire lineup. Compared to the available all-wheel-drive system, it will offer a base model with 221 horsepower and a single motor, aiming to be the most cost-effective and flexible option. Subaru and Toyota share many of the same body panels and ride on the same e-TNGA platform. However, Subaru’s front and rear ends resemble those of the larger Solterra electric SUV, which was also developed in collaboration with Toyota. The Uncharted is a small electric SUV with about the same amount of storage space as the Crosstrek. It features a bit more black plastic on the exterior than the C-HR, which lends it a tough look that Subaru is known for. This isn’t a typical Subaru, even though the base engine features a front-wheel-drive system with a single electric motor that produces 221 horsepower. “Limited quantities” of the FWD Premium variant will be sold, according to Subaru. It is designed for individuals seeking a more affordable vehicle with a longer range. According to Subaru, the FWD type can travel up to 300 miles without needing to be charged. Regardless of the chosen powertrain, the standard 75-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is always utilized. The available all-wheel-drive system is equipped with two electric motors—one at the front and another at the back. It provides the car with a significant boost in power, boasting 338 horsepower. It comes in two trim levels: Sport and GT. Interestingly, Toyota makes all-wheel drive standard on the C-HR, which is more like Subaru. The AWD Uncharted has a great starting time of less than 5 seconds to 60 mph, but this means it can only travel approximately 290 miles on a single charge. AWD Subarus will have the X-Mode off-road setting available. Inside, the cabin includes two rows of seating for five occupants, dual wireless phone charging pads, and a 14.0-inch touchscreen display. A squared-off steering wheel, available water-resistant seat fabric, and orange trim are all exclusive to Subaru. The base model comes with ambient lighting, a power door, and heated seats. The Sport model adds a 360-degree video system and a heated steering wheel. The highest level of standard, GT, comes with a panoramic sunroof, 20-inch alloy wheels, ventilated front seats, and a better sound system. It can be charged at Tesla Superchargers because it features a port compatible with the North American Charging Standard (NACS). They say it can charge at up to 150 kW, which would let it go from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes. We don’t know the exact cost of the 2026 Uncharted when it goes on sale early next year, but we estimate the base model with front-wheel drive will be around $30,000. This will put it in the same price range as cars like the Kia Niro EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. AWD models will likely cost between $30,000 and $40,000.
