The 2026 Solterra is the fastest Subaru we’ve ever tried. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and from 0 to 101 mph in 13.0 seconds. So far, this has been faster than the BRZ and all of the WRX STI versions we’ve tried, even the S209. The electric Uncharted and Trailseeker could easily take the lead away from the Solterra, so it will not stay in front for long. We focus on the test results at Invoice-Pricing’s Testing Hub. We’ve been putting cars through rigorous tests since 1956 to gather objective evidence to support our personal opinions. Other than the BRZ, which is mostly about rear-wheel drive, and the WRX, which hasn’t had an STI version since 2021, Subaru hasn’t paid attention to its speed side in a long time. Still, the brand has a long history with sporty cars and fiery rally winners. At our test track, one of them must have set a really fast acceleration time. The 2026 Solterra, an electric SUV, is now the fastest Subaru we’ve tried, even though the STI S209 is a very tough competitor. Our test of the Solterra Touring XT, which has a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with 338 horsepower, went from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and to 100 mph in 11.8 seconds. The 2024 BRZ tS took 13.7 seconds to reach 100 mph and 5.5 seconds to reach 60 mph, which is slower than some of Subaru’s other performance cars. Our 2019 STI S209 went past the Solterra to over 100 mph in 11.2 seconds, but it took 4.4 seconds to get to 60 mph. The quarter-mile is where things really get going. In the drag race, the Solterra and S209 both finished the quarter-mile in 13 seconds. The BRZ went 1320 feet at 101 mph in 14 seconds. The electric SUV’s top speed was 101 mph for about a second, which gave the S209 time to get back into the race, which ended at 107 mph. The Solterra took off ahead of everyone else because of its quick torque. Subaru has not officially said anything about new speed cars, but it has hinted that STI-badged cars may return. The Solterra’s acceleration record will not last long. The next Subaru Uncharted electric vehicle will have the same 338-horsepower dual-motor setup as the Solterra, but with a smaller body. The planned mid-size Trailseeker may also be better than the Solterra. Every kind of old car will have 375 horsepower, making it much larger and more powerful.
