You may have already seen the Polestar 5 and thought, “Wow, that’s really cool.” This Polestar has 884 horsepower and is the most attractive of the bunch. The company that made the five claims it was designed to compete with Porsche, and comparisons to the Panamera and Taycan suggest that it is a good car. On paper, it looks like it will be a close race, but the Polestar 5’s weight of about 5,600 pounds is hard to ignore. As an example, the Turbo Cross Turismo wagon, which is the biggest, weighs 5,196 pounds, while the Taycan, which is the smallest and drives on the back, weighs 4,630 pounds. Several factors play a role in this. The Porsche is a more specialized sports car, while the Polestar has a larger battery and a more GT car-like feel. Also, you can only get it with AWD. The Polestar 5’s battery pack is 112 kilowatt-hours, which should give it a range of 351 miles on Europe’s WLTP testing cycle. The Taycan’s battery pack is only 105 kilowatt-hours. Polestar hasn’t said how much the 5’s battery weighs in total yet, but it’s definitely more than the Porsche’s, which weighs 1,389 pounds by itself. Usually, 13 to 17 pounds are added for every kWh of battery capacity. This means that a 7 kWh difference could cause the Polestar to gain an extra 91 to 119 pounds. The following is a general outline of the five. From nose to tail, it’s 200.3 inches long, which is longer than the Taycan’s record of 195.4 inches. The new Polestar Performance Architecture, which forms the base, is primarily composed of bonded and riveted metal, suggesting it will be both strong and lightweight. The Polestar may have had to add more material to meet the manufacturer’s total stiffness standards. The famous J1.2 platform of the Taycan, on the other hand, is made of metal with steel in the roof and B pillars to make it stronger without being too big. Last but not least, the Polestar 5 is a grand tourer, while the Taycan is more focused on speed. Polestar has created a car that bears a resemblance to the Porsche Panamera. The Porsche Panamera has an electric V8 engine and can weigh up to 5,302 pounds in its Turbo E-Hybrid form. Like the Panamera, the Polestar 5 puts comfort technology, sound quality, and space first. You can bet that it affects the total curb weight, even though it is hard to figure out. The results are not expected to surprise anyone. A Porsche is a great choice if you want a fast car that is easy to drive. What if you want a high-end GT car, though? You could also get a Porsche or, for something different, a beautiful car that isn’t a Volvo.
