Still, there need to be more Ford Mavericks and other companies that want to get in on the action. Stellantis and General Motors sell small cars in foreign markets, which might be OK. On the other hand, Ram just released its newest Rampage pickup in South America. But it looks too North American for my taste. The taillights are painted with the American flag, and a hidden prototype has been seen driving around Detroit. This is a good sign that the Rampage will come to the United States. Aside from these pictures and the truck’s name, the company didn’t say much about it. Even if you don’t know it, the nickname means something more. In the United States in the 1980s, Dodge sold the Rampage, an El Camino econobox. Even though this new truck and the old light utility vehicle have only four wheels and a bed in common, Dodge hopes that some Americans will remember its little ute. The Chevy Montana is a small pickup truck also sold in South America. It looks like its full-size cousin and is similar to the Ram, but Chevy has yet to say if it plans to make the truck legal in the United States and bring it here. We will know if the Rampage is coming when Ram makes a public announcement. Even though the Big Three often try cars for foreign markets near Detroit, this doesn’t mean a US launch is right around the corner. The only thing that comes close to the Maverick is the Hyundai Santa Cruz, which isn’t a utility car. Ram can turn up the heat at the Blue Oval if the price is right.
