When It Comes Back In 2026, The Nissan Altima Will Still Be About A $30,000 Car

Nissan used to have four cars, but the company started cutting back on sedans and SUVs when they became popular body styles, starting with the Maxima. Nissan had already said the Altima would be discontinued in 2025 and that the redesigned Sentra would be the only Nissan car, suggesting the Versa and Altima would follow the Altima’s lead. But today, Nissan revealed details about the 2026 Altima, indicating it has changed its mind.

For the 2026 model year, the Altima’s look is basically the same as before. After the 2025 S and SL trims were canceled, only the SV and SR trims remained, and the SR could now be equipped with the new Midnight Edition package. This comes with 19-inch black wheels, a black roof, and black trim around the badges, window frame, and grille. You can get the Midnight Edition in Super Black, Pearl White, Tactical Green, or Gray Sky Pearl. It has a sunroof and a dual-zone automatic climate control system.

The SR now has a new 12.3-inch tablet and a wireless charging pad. The Altima is still powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission. The engine makes 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque with front-wheel drive and 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet with all-wheel drive. Nissan discontinued the 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine, which made 248 horsepower, after the 2024 model year. It won’t come back for 2026.

The 2026 Altima SR will cost $30,325, which is $300 more than last year’s model. The SV will start at $28,825, which is only $200 more. All-wheel drive is available on both versions for $1400. Nissan didn’t say when the 2026 Altima would be in stores, but we think it will go on sale in the first few months of next year.
