Although you can still purchase some minivans, the SUV has become the standard vehicle for American families. In the next year, many new SUVs suitable for families will be introduced to the market. If you’re looking for a new car to take your kids to school, to baseball tournaments, and on fun road trips, you might want to wait a little longer. A wide selection of new cars is set to debut in the coming months, such as the upscale three-row 2026 Hyundai Palisade and the exclusively hybrid 2026 Toyota RAV4. This summer, Hyundai will release the second version of its largest SUV. In the fall, a new hybrid option is planned to come out. The 2026 Palisade has an aggressive, Range Rover-like look. There is also a new XRT Pro version that sits an inch higher, features more drive modes for rough terrain, and boasts stronger bodywork. Hyundai is releasing both a regular V-6 engine that makes 287 horsepower and a V-6 hybrid engine that can make 329 horsepower. Some vehicles—though not all hybrids—offer all-wheel drive as a standard feature. The cabin is spacious, features two 12.3-inch screens, and accommodates up to eight people. The Cherokee name will be used on a new small crossover with a hybrid engine, following a brief hiatus. Jeep hasn’t provided us with many details about the Cherokee yet. Still, we think it will feature a dual-clutch automatic transmission, a four-cylinder gas engine, and an electric motor. It also wouldn’t be surprising to see a plug-in hybrid version with all-wheel drive and enhanced power, likely carrying the “4xe” badge. Later this year, we should have more information about the Cherokee. Kia is expected to release a new, second-generation Telluride SUV by the end of the year. The 2026 Telluride is expected to offer the same engine choices as the updated Palisade, including a 287-hp V-6 and a 329-hp hybrid option. Sales of the new Telluride are expected to start early next year, so it is anticipated to be available in the next few months. Mazda has unveiled the third generation of its top-selling CX-5 model. The 2026 CX-5 is a stylish update to the current SUV. It has a sleek appearance and numerous desirable features. The CX-5 isn’t scheduled for release until 2026. It will have the same 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine as the last model. The turbocharged engine has also been removed from the lineup. For the 2027 model year, a new hybrid powertrain created solely by Mazda will take its place. The 2026 CX-5’s interior, on the other hand, is much more modern, featuring a 15.6-inch screen that can be added, as well as fewer buttons that are tactile. The sales began early in 2019. Most recently, Subaru’s long-standing wagon has evolved into an SUV, showcasing a bolder design and a more angular, boxier silhouette. Of course, the Outback comes standard with all-wheel drive and a 180-hp four-cylinder engine. The Wilderness model is designed for off-road use and features a 260-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine, all-terrain tires, automatically adjustable dampers, and increased ground clearance. The XT model also has these features. All models come with a new 12.1-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge panel on the inside. The Outback will be released later this year, and the Wilderness will be released in early 2026. Ranked as the third most popular vehicle in the United States, the Toyota RAV4 is set to receive a major redesign for the 2026 model year. The sixth version of Toyota’s small SUV will only be available with hybrid drivetrains and will feature a slimmer design. Front-wheel drive models feature a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, combining for a total of 226 horsepower. All-wheel drive models feature a third electric motor, which increases the output to 236 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid returns with 320 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive. The GR Sport variant can be combined with the PHEV, offering summer tires, a retuned suspension, revised steering, and a sportier, more aggressive design. The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is expected to be released before the end of the year. The German car company is releasing a new SEL R-Line Turbo model in 2026, which will give drivers more power. However, Volkswagen has already showcased the updated Tiguan for the 2025 model year. It features a 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine that produces 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, the same engine found in the Golf GTI hot hatchback. The most expensive SUV will be the Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo, which has a head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, and 12-way power adjustment. This fall, you’ll be able to buy the sportier Tiguan.
