Our Opinion - 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer Review

The 2025 Trailblazer is a very powerful SUV because of its subcompact crossover design, which looks like a Chevrolet Blazer that has been in the dryer for too long. Chevy’s base model is different from this one, though. The Trax, winner of the 10Best award, deserves that honor. It is much cheaper than the other cars in the class and has almost the same room and usefulness, as well as a similar instrument panel and standard 137-hp engine. All-wheel drive, underbody skid plates, and a more powerful 155-hp three-cylinder engine are some of the things that make the Trailblazer better than its smaller sister. The Trailblazer is a better choice for light off-roading because it has better tools. Aside from that, there is only a strong reason to choose the Trailblazer over the Trax if you like how it stands taller. There are, however, other good subcompact SUVs on the market, such as the sporty Mazda CX-30, which has a nicer cabin than the Trailblazer, the roomier Volkswagen Taos, and the better off-road Subaru Crosstrek. Chevy has a clear winner in this class, but it’s different from the Trailblazer.

After the shape was changed for 2024, only small changes have been made to this year’s Trailblazer. The colors have been changed, and in 2025, you can now get Marina Blue Metallic. The traditional engine E-85 was physically adjusted and given a stronger cylinder head valve seat material so that it could work with the new engine. No other changes have been made to the Trailblazer. From the fall of 2024 on, you’ll be able to buy the 2025 model.

Pros

  • Having fun with clothes.
  • Large inside.
  • Formalities that are not needed.

Cons

  • Launch languid.
  • A noisy house.
  • Area around the driver’s screen that isn’t being used.

You can get the Trailblazer with one of two three-cylinder turbocharged engines, the same as the Encore GX. The basic 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine makes 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque when paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. A 1.3-liter turbocharged engine with three cylinders is available as an extra. An impressive 155 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque are at its disposal. It has an automatic drive with nine speeds. The update to the engine is well worth it, especially since the new gears make the car smoother. Still, both engines move slowly, which is normal for this class. The Trailblazer feels more powerful in town than its acceleration test results show. However, it would help if you still were careful when getting onto the highway or passing quickly. Stay in the right lane when this Chevy is full of people and the things that you used to live for.

Every Chevrolet Trailblazer comes with a basic set of driver-assistance technologies, but you can also get more advanced ones, like adaptive cruise control. Visit the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) webpages to learn more about the Trailblazer’s crash test scores.

  • To a large extent, autonomous emergency brakes can detect human drivers.
  • You will receive regular lane direction and exit warnings.
  • You can get adaptive speed control.

When you get inside the Trailblazer, you’ll notice that the driver sits high, like in a bigger SUV. There is enough room in the back seat for two adults to relax easily. Even though most of the interior is made of black plastic trim, it doesn’t feel all that flashy. With metal and colored trim, higher-end models give the impression of a more sophisticated look. The Trailblazer is also great at carrying everything you need. The front passenger seat and the back seats can both be folded down, making the trunk space bigger. Six carry-on bags fit behind the back seat during our tests. When the back seatbacks are folded down, the total storage space is 19.

For the front-wheel-drive Trailblazer with the 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, the EPA says it will get 30 mpg overall, 30 mpg in the city, and 31 mpg on the highway. The city/highway economy drops to a terrible 22 mpg when the smaller engine is run on E85. If you choose the front-wheel drive and 1.3-liter engine, you can get 31 mpg overall, or 29 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. All-wheel drive is only offered on the bigger engine, which drops the combined gas mileage to 27 mpg. At 75 miles per hour, an all-wheel-drive Trailblazer RS got 26 mpg on the highway.

A big 11.0-inch touchscreen sits in the middle of the instrument panel, and the driver gets an 8.0-inch digital gauge set. The base model comes with a six-speaker radio. For the ACTIV and RS models, the Adaptive Cruise and Sound Package adds a Bose seven-speaker sound. One normal USB-A and USB-C port is there. There is a Wi-Fi router, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto that work wirelessly.

Either engine can be used to speed up slowly. Our tests showed that the Trailblazer could easily hit 60 mph in 8.7 seconds, even though it had a more powerful 1.3-liter engine.

The Trailblazer LT is the best choice for you. The base engine is the three-cylinder, which is less powerful. If you want all-wheel drive and more power, you can choose the 1.3-liter, which is more powerful and has a nine-speed automatic gear. For more comfort, the Trailblazer comes with a bigger touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, roof-mounted side rails, and the Convenience Package, which has automatic climate control, a wireless smartphone charging pad, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and other features.
