Gallery Our Opinion - 2025 Kia K5 Review The Telluride is a well-equipped minivan, and the K5 is a tempting mid-size family car for people who don’t need such a large space. Together, they make one of the best three-row SUVs on the market. The 10Best-winning Honda Accord is a tough competitor for the reasonably priced K5, which is a great deal. Most K5s have a 2.5-liter inline-four engine. Some trim levels come with all-wheel drive, but the front-wheel drive is normal. The fastest car, the 290-horsepower K5 GT, is a lot of fun. Even though the Sonata, which is Hyundai’s technical twin to the K5, and the K5 have a lot in common, they are slightly different when it comes to driving. The K5 comes with useful tech like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlights, and rear cross-traffic sensing that buyers will find useful every time they get behind the wheel. The K5 comes with front-wheel drive when it has that engine, but all-wheel drive can be added if you want to. The full-size Monterey GT has a stronger 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The most aggressive K5 model has bigger tires on bigger 19-inch wheels, bigger brakes, and custom suspension tuning. It also has a unique eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that is also offered on the Hyundai Sonata N Line. Safety Kia’s family sedan also has a number of basic and optional features that help the driver. Fuel Economy and Actual MPG The EPA says the K5 GT gets 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. They still need to release numbers for the K5 with the base four-cylinder engine. As soon as we can, we’ll test drive the 2025 K5 on our 75-mph highway fuel economy route and add the results to this story. The GT did better than expected in this test, getting 36 mpg, four more than its grade. Infotainment and Connectivity In some models, the gauge panel is a 12.0-inch digital unit that can show different kinds of data. In others, it’s a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a frame around it. All of the models have wifi support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The K5 can have a 12-speaker Bose music system for the greatest sound. Range, Charging, and Battery Life We were in a GT that could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and come to a complete stop from 70 mph in 163 feet. The Sonata N Line took a little less time to reach 60 mph (5.0 seconds) and even less time to stop (152 feet). It had the same engine and transmission. Though the Kia only has all-season tires, the high-performance Hyundai we drove had better speed because it had summer tires that could be added. Price and How to Choose There is a great mix of sporty design elements in the GT-Line, and the price is very tempting. This makes it a great choice for people who don’t care about the GT’s 290 horsepower engine. We suggest that one. For an extra $1600, you can add all-wheel drive for better performance in all kinds of weather. All GT-Line models come with 18-inch wheels, a 10-way power driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and wireless charging for your phone. For added safety features like adaptive cruise control, advanced collision warning, and full LED headlights, we’d go for the Premium trim.
