For the 2026 model year, the Nissan Leaf enters its third generation. The first two generations had a bad look and a short range. The Leaf’s price hasn’t changed much, despite improvements in both style and performance. The S+ trim starts at $31,485. The 2026 model costs more than the base trim of the 2025 model ($29,280), but it is still less expensive than the Leaf when it was first released in 2011. A single 214-horsepower electric motor paired with a 75-kWh battery drives the front wheels of the S+ and the two higher trim levels. Several conveniences help offset the fairly significant differences between trim levels. The starting price of the 2026 SV+ is $35,725. These wheels are 18 inches instead of the S+’s 18-inch steel wheels. It also eliminates the two 12.3-inch screens on the S/S+ trim and replaces them with two 14.3-inch screens. If you choose the Platinum+, the base price jumps to $40,485, a significant increase. However, it comes with several premium features, including 19-inch wheels, Bose sound, a dimming panoramic roof, and taillights with a glowing effect. The Leaf might soon be even easier to talk to, but it will lose its kindness and range in the process. Nissan stated that the price for the base S trim, which will be cheaper than the S+, will be revealed at a later time. The car company said that the three grades they had already mentioned for 2026 will start to show up in stores this fall.
