The 2026 Polestar 5 Sports Looks Great And Has 872 Horsepower

When Polestar launched its first car in 2020, it did not begin with an inexpensive, high-volume model. Instead, the car company went all out and showed off a coupe with 619 horsepower that cost well over $100,000. Polestar didn’t have a good halo product after that model was taken off the market, which was a shame. Swedish company Polestar has shown off its new top-of-the-line car, the 2026 Polestar 5.

The 2020 Precept idea is what the new plan is based on. Instead of just being a coupe, the Polestar 1 was also a beautiful four-door car called the Polestar 5. Even though it has back doors, the design is the same as the 1s. It’s long, low, and powerful, and the lines that make it up are beautiful.

Even though Polestar has a sleek design, the company came up with creative ways to meet the comfort needs of grand touring cars. Please take a look at the battery, which is placed under the floor of the car and has a hole in it behind the front seats. The back seat is now lower and has more space because of this. Polestar states that the five is primarily designed to accommodate four people, but the center bench in the back seat can be raised to create space for a fifth person in an emergency.

There are two types of trim for the new Polestar: Dual Motor and Performance. They both have two motors and all-wheel drive, but the types vary in how much power they can put out. The basic Dual Motor model has 738 horsepower and 599 lb-ft of torque. With a rear motor that has 603 horsepower, the Performance trim can go even farther. The most powerful model has 872 horsepower and 749 pound-feet of torque.

Polestar’s official values for 0–60 mph are too low, given the huge horsepower numbers. The Performance model accelerates from zero to sixty in 3.1 seconds, while the standard Dual Motor version achieves it in 3.8 seconds, with both variants capped at a top speed of 155 mph.

The 106-kWh (usable) NMC lithium-ion battery under the fifth floor does two things. To begin with, it assists in forming the structure of the aluminum platform. There are 800 volts in the system, and it can charge DC at up to 350 kW. Polestar states that this includes charge times of less than 22 minutes, from 10% to 80% state of charge. The WLTP ratings for the 5 tell the EPA that the basic car will go about 330 miles, while the performance version will go about 300 miles.

It competes in 28 markets, but the US isn’t one of them. The company says the Polestar 5 will be offered in 24 of those markets when it launches. Prices and availability in the US will be announced later, but we don’t think you should wait. In Germany, the two variants are priced at approximately $140,000 and $168,000, respectively. Since Polestar makes the model in China, tariffs could make it too expensive to sell in the US.
