The Honda N-One E Is A Small Electric Vehicle (EV) That Costs Less Than $18,500 In Japan

You will have to live outside of the US if you want a small electric car like the new Honda N-ONE e. The first electric kei car from Honda will be sold in Japan for about $18,300, which is a low price.

Most Americans don’t know anything about the Japanese car industry, much less the names of anime characters. But Honda’s gas-powered N-ONE is one of the most popular cars in the country, and the new “e” type looks like an old-fashioned box. The second one has a familiar face and beautiful circular headlights. There are either one or two charging ports under the front rim, which is made of materials that can be recycled.

Hooking up the N-ONE e to a Level 2 charger should fully charge the battery under the floor in 4.5 hours. However, Honda says that if you hook it up to a DC fast-charger with the extra second connector, the battery will hit 80% charge in about 30 minutes. The battery should last for 155 miles when fully charged. The EV can also be used as a portable power bank because it has an external power socket that can produce up to 1500 watts of power.

The N-ONE e’s interior is simple, with HVAC system settings that you can feel and gear selectors that you press. The more expensive model has a digital instrument panel and a Honda steering wheel wrapped in leather. The second one has a 9.0-inch tablet in the middle, which is missing from the first one. The base trim comes with 14-inch steel wheels, which are nice if you like that kind of thing.

If you buy the more expensive Honda N-ONE e model, which costs about $22,000, it doesn’t seem like a good deal. Still, the electric kei car has some basic active safety features, such as adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, lane-keeping assist, and an interesting system called “Sudden Acceleration Prevention.” The new N-ONE e is now competing with the Nissan Sakura, which is about the same size. It is making its appearance in the Japanese new car market.
