There is considerable interest in the Hemi V-8, which Ram reintroduced in the 1500 pickup for the 2026 model year. Stellantis, the parent company, says that the first Hemi-powered truck units are only on store lots for five days before they are bought. In the US, the cars that sell the most often stay at showrooms for 20 to 30 days on average. Startech’s new 3.0-liter inline-six “Hurricane” twin-turbocharged engines replaced the V-8 engines in Ram’s famous 1500 pickup truck for the 2025 model year. Although the six-cylinder engine is more powerful and efficient than the old V-8, Ram reintroduced the 5.7-liter engine for 2026 because Ram owners prefer the sound of eight valves working together. Stellantis reports that the first models of its Hemi-powered truck are selling extremely well, indicating that the plan is working so far. Sales of the light-duty Ram 1500 rose by 10% year over year in the third quarter of 2025. Between July and September, 44,349 new cars were bought. In the first nine months of 2025, 143,264 light-duty 1500s were sold, representing a 4% increase. Even though Ram doesn’t break down sales by engine, the company did include a small note in its most recent sales report that showed how eager buyers are for the revived V-8 trucks. Ram says that sellers reported selling the first units in an average of five days, indicating significant demand. We don’t have exact numbers to compare how long it takes sellers to sell non-V-8 models, but a new car still doesn’t stay on a dealership lot for very long. In the United States, it usually takes 20 to 30 days for the fastest-selling cars to find a buyer. Five days is a clear sign that the new Hemi-powered Rams are in high demand. This rate is expected to slow down as more V-8 trucks are introduced to Ram dealerships and the company produces more trucks to meet demand. In addition, Stellantis says that “orders have exceeded production” so far. Still, Stellantis should be pleased about this because it demonstrates that the company is starting to understand the importance of listening to its users. Stellantis plans to release gas-powered six-cylinder versions of the Charger this fall, following slow sales of the electric Dodge Charger Daytona. This could mean that the V-8 is reintroduced to the Charger to boost sales further.
