The Aston Martin DB12 S 2026 Improves On A Recipe That Was Already Great

Aston Martin announced that the DB12 had been upgraded to “Super Tourer” status when it was unveiled as the successor to the famous DB11 grand tourer. After two years, Aston Martin is ready to make the platform better again. This time, they will release a new DB12 model, which will retain the S name for their most basic cars.

The best thing about any Aston Martin with the S name is its engine. The new S features the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine as the non-S models, but it produces 690 horsepower, up from 671. The maximum torque of 590 pound-feet remains constant at 2750 rpm. Aston’s experts changed the launch control system to cut gearshift times by more than half. This will add 0.1 seconds to the time it takes to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour. Aston Martin claims that the DB12 S can sprint in 3.4 seconds, but it may achieve a slightly better time in ideal conditions.

Along with the red S badge placed behind the front wheels, the car’s distinctive four-tailpipe design at the rear makes it stand out. Aston put in a new stainless steel engine in the DB12 S model to improve its sound at all revs. An optional titanium exhaust makes the exhaust scream 1.5 decibels louder and drops the car’s weight by 26 pounds.

Aston’s ability in straight lines wasn’t the only thing that got better. “Commensurate” improvements were sought by chassis engineers to improve the driver’s experience of the vehicle’s overall agility, precision, and connectivity, according to the maker. To achieve this, they adjusted the settings for the toe and caster, installed a stiffer rear anti-roll bar, and modified the software for the damper to control pitch and roll. Thanks to changes to the electronic rear differential adjustment, drivers can speed up their departure speeds by stepping on the gas earlier in a turn.

The S comes with carbon-ceramic brakes as standard, but the rest of the DB12 series can be equipped with them for an additional $14,500. Aston says that carbon ceramics lower unsprung weight by 60 pounds compared to steel counterparts. This is in addition to better heat control and brake efficiency. The DB12 S will also be better with the next version of Aston’s CBC. We’re not talking about the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. We’re talking about the corner-braking-control system, which improves brake slip control to make the vehicle more stable during trail braking.

The DB12 S looks great with its new quad-exhaust layout, featuring a modified diffuser at the rear, as well as its front lip and updated hood louvers. On the inside, you can choose from three trim themes: Accelerate leather and Alcantara, Inspire S full semi-aniline leather, and Inspire S semi-aniline leather and Alcantara. The tops of the last two models are made of Alcantara and have herringbone quilting.

The new DB12 S is now available for order, and Aston Martin plans to begin shipping them in early 2026. We expect the car to start at $270,000 and the convertible Volante to cost around $290,000. Official prices have not been released yet.
