Based on the 296 GTB, Ferrari showcased a brand-new, one-of-a-kind car from its Special Projects division. This is the only one of its kind. It’s named after the famous Ferrari F40 and looks a lot like it. The SC40 features an 819-hp mid-rear engine that combines an axial-flux electric motor with a twin-turbo V-6, delivering the same amount of power as the 296. To put it simply, Ferrari’s latest design style has been interesting. The name keeps up with new design trends, whether you like it or not. The newest thing from Ferrari is a limited-edition car from its Special Projects line. It has a modern look with a bit of the brand’s history. Here is the SC40, Maranello’s newest and strangest model. It is based on the 296 GTB and gets its name and look from Ferrari’s famous F40. According to Ferrari, the style was influenced by industrial design. The style is “defined by precise geometries and muscular, squared volumes.” The SC40 number, which is etched into the right-side wing upright like the famous supercar from the 1980s, is the clearest sign that the F40 inspired the car. The numbers for both the SC40 and the 296 GTBs are the same. Before it merged with a hybrid system, it meant a 3.0-liter V-6 with a 120-degree angle, which is called F163 and makes 654 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque. The 296 GTB has 819 horsepower when an axial-flux electric motor is added between the engine and the transmission. You can read a full explanation of the 296’s hybrid twin-turbo V-6 setup here. We put the 2022 296 GTB through its paces and found that it took 2.4 seconds to reach 60 mph, 4.7 seconds to reach 100 mph, and 9.7 seconds to reach 150 mph in a quarter-mile. As with all of Ferrari’s strange projects, the price and location of the car have not been made public. The style buck Ferrari plans to show at its museum in Maranello, Italy, starting October 18, will be the best chance for most of us to see the SC40.
