2025 Cadillac XT6 Overview

The Cadillac XT6 is a three-row SUV positioned in the middle of the lineup, between the larger two-row XT5 and the massive Escalade. It is suitable for people who need to transport more than five people but do not want to spend a lot of money or space in the largest luxury vehicles. Two engines are available, and you can choose front-wheel or all-wheel drive. We enjoy its useful ergonomics and comfortable seats, although it falls short in a few areas.

We expect state-of-the-art technology, safety features, and premium finishes because Cadillac has a long history of making luxury cars. The XT6 is excellent when it comes to information. Its top trims are constructed of sumptuous leather, metal, and even carbon fiber, giving them a genuine appearance and feel. The 8-inch entertainment screen, however, is identical to that found in the 2013 XTS. Many competitors have since switched to ultrawide screens for the center stack and instrument cluster. (On the XT6, a small digital cluster is optional.) Furthermore, the fact that you have to activate the all-wheel-drive system manually makes it feel very 1995. At the same time, all-wheel drive works seamlessly and effortlessly in all competitive vehicles. To summarize? The XT6 needs more value.

Regardless of how much it costs, the XT6 is not as quick or luxurious as the top three-row SUVs, such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE or BMW X7. Its pricing peers include the Lexus TX, Lincoln Aviator, and Acura MDX. Its higher trim levels are also comparable to the lower trim levels of the Audi Q7. The Mazda CX-90 is a surprise among high-end three-row vehicles, but it looks and drives just as well as the XT6 at around the same price.

How does the XT6 generate its power? The XT6’s 3.6-liter V6 engine was thoroughly tested. Over the course of our test track, the XT6 required 7.3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour. That’s very quick for a car its size, but it was far slower than the class winners. The all-wheel-drive system does not work automatically; you must manually turn it on when you believe you need it.

Two other driving issues include torque steer, which occurs when you press on the throttle and the steering wheel jerks to one side, and an overly sensitive gas pedal, which makes driving at low speeds difficult. Also, some roads scratch the front chin spoiler, which improves aerodynamics; therefore, you should avoid off-roading.

How warm and comfortable does the XT6 feel? Even though they cannot be fully adjusted, the front seats are very comfy and have a nice heating system (with cooling on higher trim levels). Because of this, the back support can only be adjusted in two directions, and there is no thigh cushion extension for persons with long legs. The captain’s chairs in the second row can be reclined back, and they’re reasonably comfortable but not exceptional. In terms of ride comfort, the XT6 Sport we tested did a good job of reducing the effects of strong road impacts, but it struggled to regulate the resulting body position adjustments.

What condition is the inside in? Most automakers are getting rid of rotary controllers, but Cadillac decided to include one to complement its touchscreen interface. We agree with this approach, but several of the touch-sensitive functions remain difficult to operate.

The XT6 is simple to get into and out of because the stepover height is minimal, and the door holes are closed off. After obtaining the captain’s chairs in the second row, it’s simple to move onto the third row. Once inside, each row has plenty of room. Low-mounted side mirrors and a 360-degree parking camera system improve the driver’s visibility.

What is wrong with technology? The 14-speaker Bose audio system for sale offers the power to help you enrich your music with high-quality sound. Compared to some of its competitors, this system sounds louder even when set down halfway. The native navigation is simple to use and responds to natural language. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide a variety of charging options for those who enjoy their smartphones. (We tested the XT6, which had six USB ports and a portable phone charger.)

The XT6’s driving tools are generally reliable. The adaptive cruise control works well, but the lane-keeping system is more of an active aid to concentration than a preventative measure. The pricey night vision feature does not perform well enough to justify the cost.

How is the store’s situation? Third-row motorized flat-folding seats that fold down rapidly are usually beneficial. The XT6 features these seats. Both the back passenger door and the trunk hatch have controls, which is convenient. The cargo space has a bit too much liftover height, and there is just 12.6 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats. It can contain up to 78.7 cubic feet of cargo, which is typical for the class.

How much fuel does it use? The XT6 we drove, which has a V6 engine and all-wheel drive, gets 20 mpg combined, which is comparable to most other cars in its class. We averaged 22.6 mpg on our mixed-driving test route, which is consistent with our expectations and suggests that the XT6 will live up to its window sticker figures.

How much is the XT6 worth? Sorry to say, the XT6 isn’t worth what it’s worth in total. The materials utilized to construct the interior of the house are high quality, but they are poorly assembled. This cabin is more sophisticated than others in this price category or even those that cost hundreds of dollars less. The Cadillac’s MSRP is far too costly for what you receive here. We enjoy the XT6’s overall appearance and how easy it is to know it’s a Cadillac. Even at this price, the interior design is not as high-end as others, but it complements the exterior style. The worst aspect of this XT6 is the driving experience. We considered permanently turning on the all-wheel-drive system to address the torque-steer issue, but this would increase the car’s fuel consumption. Most likely, this detracts from the premium sense.

The Premium Luxury trim level is the best value in the XT6 lineup. It comes with the larger V6 engine that the XT6 requires. It also features heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, and wireless phone charging. Furthermore, it costs approximately $5,000 less than the Sport variant.
