Our Opinion - 2024 Cadillac XT6 Review

You can think of the Cadillac XT6 as an SUV that is in the middle of the Escalade land boat and the XT4 and XT5 sports cars. It has three rows of seats, just like the Escalade, but its overall size is smaller, and it is made of a single piece of metal, which makes it easier to handle and get into tight areas. There is room for seven people, but adults in the third row may feel crowded. Because it looks like a Cadillac SUV, the XT6 is a lot like the smaller, lighter Escalade. It’s too bad that the quality of the materials used inside doesn’t match the sleek design.

There will be two new colors for the Cadillac XT6 in 2024. They are Emerald Lake Metallic and Midnight Sky Metallic. If not, everything will stay the same.

Pros

  • The ride was enjoyable, and the driving was of a high quality.
  • Very good scores for safety.
  • Easy Accessible Supercruise.

Cons

  • A bit more XT5 than Escalade small.
  • Transmission setting that doesn’t work.
  • Poor entry into the third row.

When the XT6 comes back in 2024, the powertrains will not have been changed. This means that the engine can be a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 235 horsepower or a V-6 with 310 horsepower. A nine-speed automatic gearbox is the only choice. The Luxury and Premium Luxury XT6 trims come with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The Sport model, on the other hand, only comes with all-wheel drive but has more spirit thanks to a torque-vectoring rear differential and handling that is designed to respond more quickly. The Sport type has 21-inch wheels, but twenty-inch wheels are what most cars have. You can buy the XT6 with the Platinum package, which comes with all the options and the sports suspension. The driving is good for a three-row crossover, though it’s not as quick as the CT5-V sedan. If the performance doesn’t live up to your hopes, the well-balanced beauty will make you feel better.

The XT6 comes with a number of driver-assistance features that come as standard. These include automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear parking assist. Adaptive cruise control, night vision, and reverse braking are all choices on the Premium Luxury and Sport models. More information about the XT6’s crash test scores is available on the websites of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Some important safety factors are:

  • Most automatic emergency brakes can tell who is on the road.
  • Regular lane exit alarm to maintain lane position.
  • Adaptive speed control is available with a hands-free mode for your convenience.

In the second row, the Cadillac XT6 can have either captain’s chairs or a three-seat bench so that it can fit either six or seven people. Like many other mid-size SUVs with three rows, the third row is meant to fit two people, but it’s hard for fully grown adults to get in and out of. The first and second rows of seats in the XT6 are nice, but the materials used inside could be better than those in the Audi Q7 and BMW X5. Some things can fit, but only a little. Three carry-on bags can fit behind the third row. But when the two rows in the back are lowered, there is room for 31 bags. The XT6 is a better choice than the Q7 if you need to move big, heavy things. The Q7 can only fit 25 people with the seats folded down and four cases behind its third row.

The EPA says that the XT6 with four cylinders gets 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. It drops to 26 on the highway with AWD. V-6 cars are almost as fuel-efficient, with figures of 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway. (AWD takes one away from each figure.) Even so, our all-wheel-drive XT6 only got 22 mpg on our 75 mph highway fuel-economy route. In contrast, the Mercedes-Benz GLE450 that we drove that far got a score of 23.

All XT6 models come with wireless charging for devices, built-in Wi-Fi that can be used as a hotspot (with a free three-month trial), a touchscreen for entertainment, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection. Cadillac’s newest software responds quickly to questions and is shown clearly on an 8.0-inch tablet. Navigation is standard on the Premium Luxury and Sport trims but can be added as an extra on the Luxury.

Even though the Sport model comes with a V-6 engine and all-wheel drive, the XT6 is still a great luxury car. Because of this, the money saved from the Premium Luxury model should be used for that. If we added the Driver Assist package (with features like adaptive cruise control and pedestrian recognition) and the Technology package (with features like an 8.0-inch digital gauge display, head-up display, 360-degree exterior camera system, and more), we could still save some money.
