In the United States, the Ford F-150 is the best-selling car. This isn’t a surprise since there are several models to choose from. This full-size truck is better than Ford’s smaller Maverick and Ranger, and it comes in a lot of different configurations so that it can fit almost everyone’s needs. There are a lot of different F-150 models, from a simple work truck to a pickup with leather seats, high-tech features, lots of chrome, and almost everything in between. The heavy-duty Super Duty series and the all-electric F-150 Lightning are being looked at separately.

The lineup for the Ford F-150 is one of the most varied of all the cars. From the simple XL trim to the luxurious King Ranch and the powerful off-road-focused Raptor, there is a model for every type of truck buyer. If that isn’t enough, you can use a number of options to make your truck exactly how you want it. The F-150 can pull up to 13,500 pounds when it has the right tools. This is especially true when it comes to towing. Longer blind-spot detection, an integrated trailer brake controller, and trailer backup assist are some other features that help drivers stay alert and avoid getting tired.

There is no doubt that the competition in the full-size pickup class is tough, and all eyes are on the top-ranked F-150. The Toyota Tundra has smooth power and easy-to-use controls, but the Ram 1500 is also a great choice because it rides smoothly and looks great inside. What do they like to live with?

We bought a 2021 Ford F-150 Power Boost Hybrid to test for a long time. Our results are still useful even though the model isn’t from 2024 because it’s from the same generation of F-150s.

How does the F-150 Raptor handle when you drive it? Even though the Raptor has 450 horsepower, the optional 37-inch tire package on our test truck made it much less maneuverable in a straight line. Their test showed that our truck could go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds. It is fast, but not as fast as an F-150 with a hybrid engine or a regular V6 engine with 400 hp. It’s not even close to the Ram 1500 TRX’s 4.2-second sprint time. The 10-speed automatic makes daily driving easier thanks to its quick and smooth shifts.

The F-150 has quick and direct steering, which makes the car feel solid on the highway and quick in parking lots. The brakes, on the other hand, are not as good; the Raptor needs 149 feet to stop from 60 mph. Off-road tires are a big reason for this, but usually, only a heavy-duty pickup truck can go such long distances.

If you can get the most out of a Raptor’s off-road abilities, you’re a hero. This car can go almost anywhere on Earth thanks to its locking differentials, 37-inch tires, and long-travel, extended suspension. But its weakness is that it is too narrow. This truck doesn’t do well on narrow mountain roads.

How much comfort does the F-150 Raptor offer? It’s easy to sit in the Raptor for long trips, but some F-150 seats can be too hard. It has a lot of lumbar support, enough support to keep you in place, and a lot of ways to adjust it. You don’t have to get the heated steering wheel and back seats, but the front seats are heated and have airflow. The automatic climate control quickly cools or heats the cabin, and both of the heating options work very well.

When paired with the 37-inch tires on our test vehicle, which are big and good at absorbing bumps, the Raptor’s unique rear coil-spring suspension makes the ride even better than usual. Because of this, tire noise gets a little louder, but wind noise stays low. The Raptor’s exhaust for its turbocharged V6 is raspy and a little pleasing, but it’s not as fun to listen to as the TRX’s whining supercharger.

What does the inside look like? The inside of the Raptor is just as simple as the inside of any other F-150, so you’ll always know what you’re looking for. Most of the big knobs and controls on the truck can be used with gloves on. It will take some climbing to get in and out, which is normal for this class.

Drivers of all shapes and sizes can fit in because the seat, steering wheel, and pedals can be adjusted in many ways. The crew cab has a lot of room, so you won’t feel squished, either. Large windows and a scalloped edge on the front door that goes past the side mirrors help make the outside very visible. The 360-degree surround-view camera system also lets you see everything around you.

How is the technology working? Most of the impressive technological features of the F-150 are standard on the Raptor. The digital gauge cluster and 12-inch touchscreen in the middle are easy to use and look good. Advanced driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control and blind-spot warning with trailer coverage come standard. You can also connect your smartphone wirelessly with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. By switching to the truck’s Baja drive mode, you can fully use the front-facing camera while off-roading without any speed limits. That’s really cool.

One of Ford’s Pro Power Onboard generator systems is built into the Raptor. Although this generator’s power output is only 2 kW, it should be enough to power most of the electronics and home appliances you want to bring with you to camp or tailgate.

How are the moving and storing going? While the Raptor can do some impressive things, it is not even close to what regular F-150s can do. The maximum towing weight of 8,200 pounds is a lot less than what the average F-150 can pull. The Raptor can only carry up to 1,400 pounds of cargo, and it follows the same pattern. Even though the Raptor looks more serious, that doesn’t mean it can carry as much as other cars.

The cabin is just as beautiful as any other crew-cab F-150 because it has lots of storage spaces and places to put water bottles. The bed isn’t very big, and the tailgate doesn’t fold up like the ones on Ram and GM trucks do. The tailgate step and the power up/down feature that you can choose to use are still useful, though.

How much gas does the F-150 Raptor use? According to the EPA, the Raptor with 37-inch tires gets 15 miles per gallon on the highway. After going through a standard test route that included both highway and city driving, the Raptor got 15.4 mpg. That’s good for a truck that weighs almost six thousand pounds. The combined rating of 12 mpg means it uses almost no gas compared to the TRX but a lot of gas compared to almost all other full-size trucks.

Does the F-150 Raptor come at a low price? This truck is well-equipped and well-built. It can go off-road very well and has some nice features. If you don’t add any extras, the Raptor is already a pricey full-size car. The 37-inch tire package, which is optional and costs extra, was on our test truck. Even though it gives you a little more ground clearance, you should stick with the 35-inch tires.

The Raptor comes with a basic warranty that lasts three years and 36,000 miles, a powertrain warranty that lasts five years and 60,000 miles, and a roadside assistance plan that lasts five years and 60,000 miles.

The Raptor does a great job, even though it has a scary big footprint and can go off-road very well. This vehicle can go almost anywhere as long as it’s not too tight.

The Raptor has almost everything it needs. The 37-inch and 35-inch tires that you can choose from will be your main option. The 37s have a little less wheel travel, but they look more solid and have more ground clearance. With the Raptor R, Ford makes that choice for you by standardizing 37-inch tires.
