2025 Honda CR-V Overview

The 2025 Honda CR-V is in the middle. On one side are the bigger midsize Passport and Pilot, and on the other is the small HR-V. The 2023 remake of the CR-V keeps it as one of the best small SUVs in its class, just like it always has been. There have been no big changes to the 2025 Honda CR-V.

Honda has always paid attention to what its customers want, which in this case is a small SUV that is easy to use and comfortable. Instead of off-road or performance, the CR-V emphasizes these features. The seats are well-padded for long rides, and the suspension does a good job of smoothing out bumps in the road. Kids might feel less tired and sleep better in a quiet home. The CR-V’s 39.3 cubic feet of room behind the back seats is excellent for suitcases, family goods, or Costco purchases.

It’s almost impossible to beat the Honda CR-V. We adore how fast and stylish the Mazda CX-50 is, despite its higher price and gas consumption. But it’s amazing if love trumps practicality. The Subaru Forester is very different; it focuses on all-weather performance with a touch of off-road exploring. A lot of people think that the CR-V is the most flexible option.

How does the CR-V get its power? The CR-V isn’t the fastest small SUV on the track, but it’s serene and speedy. Our test model of the hybrid Sport Touring went from 0 to 60 mph in 8.0 seconds. Typical for the class, it takes about as long as a 1.5-liter engine.

Emergency brakes operate well and make stopping easy. In cities, the hybrid system drives easily, but steep mountain roads need a lot of footwork. Turning is smooth for the CR-V. The responsive handling provides enough feedback to help you know what’s going on on the road.

How nice is the inside of the CR-V? The CR-V is smooth to ride in. The suspension is soft, and it doesn’t feel light. There will be some bumps and cracks in the surface, but they quickly heal and return to being smooth without too much trouble.

The beautiful pattern is still there on the inside. Honda still doesn’t offer a ventilated choice, but the heated and already-in-place front seats are soft and comfortable. Since it doesn’t let air in or out, the CR-V doesn’t make road noise. The hybrid engine can be irritating, especially while climbing hills. What we don’t like about it is this.

How is the inside? The inside of the CR-V makes a lot of sense. In a tiny SUV, the huge windows make the inside feel airy and spacious in both rows. Increased glass makes it simpler to view from outside. Honda’s wide-angle rearview camera lowers rear visibility in the CR-V.

The CR-V’s doors are big, and the seats are in good places, making it easy for people to get in and out. Because the back seats can be pushed back and the front row seats can be adjusted far forward and backward, it’s easy to relax.

What’s wrong with the tech? Even though the CR-V’s 7-inch touchscreen and optional 9-inch touchscreen aren’t the best in their class, the car’s operating system is easy to use and answers to touch. As usual, wireless connectivity is built in, so your phone can connect to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Even though the maps look basic, the Sport Touring’s built-in guidance system gives you helpful directions and suggestions.

It’s too bad that the speech recognition could be better than that of some competitors, and it’s only offered at the top-level Sport Touring trim level. The improved driving aids, on the other hand, are truly amazing. Different CR-V types come with many of them as standard. Critical features like adaptive cruise control and lane-centering steering operate nicely.

What’s going on with storage? A compact SUV with 39.3 cubic feet of space behind the back seats, the CR-V can hold a lot. In spite of its shallow depth, the container area has a lot of width and height so that it can fit big things. Better than the last generation, the CR-V can carry the same weight as a hybrid. You’re not going to give up storage space to save fuel.

Honda made a mistake when it came to internal storage. Older CR-V center tunnels can be hollowed out and altered to fit large purses. That location has since become a central bin. It’s easy to place child safety seats in the second row because the door openings are big, the attachment anchor points are close at hand, and there is plenty of legroom.

How much fuel does it use? The EPA says that the non-hybrid Honda CR-V cars get 30 miles per gallon on the highway. Instead of 40 mpg, the hybrid achieves 37 mpg with all-wheel drive, which is better for the environment. The second one was put to the test. It got a terrible 33.3 mpg on our real-world test trip. Still, the route is meant to be used on highways, and most of its rivals did badly in Invoices’ tests. The Kia Sportage Hybrid, for instance, got 34.5 mpg. We got better gas mileage when driving around town every day, which suggests that the CR-V’s hybrid engine might work better there.

Is the CR-V worth anything? The CR-V is well-built for its price. Good construction means it sounds quiet on the road and doesn’t creak or rattle. Inside, there is a lot of rough plastic, but Honda hides it well with soft surfaces and some interesting design choices.

The CR-V costs a lot more than many of its rivals, so if you want an affordable SUV, you can find better ones. Given its superb quality, the pricing is fair but unattractive. The warranty coverage could be better in its class; competitors offer better protection against rust, roadside help, and free maintenance.

When it comes to style, crosses aren’t as dull as they used to be. The Honda has a style that is both classy and understated, which makes the CR-V look very boring. This SUV wants to blend in. Still, the CR-V’s new appearance is more modern than its predecessor.

It’s fun to drive for short periods because it handles well for a crossover, and the controls are easy to use. First and foremost, it makes sense. Shoppers with lots of Excel files should like the CR-V. Look elsewhere for inspiration and excitement about a tiny family SUV.

The EX-L trim is the best. Even though it’s a mid-range CR-V grade, it has almost everything you could want or need, like leather seats and an automatic liftgate.

Types of Honda CR-V

The 2025 Honda CR-V is available in six different trims: LX, EX, Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Sport Touring. The LX, EX, and EX-L trims have a four-cylinder turbocharged engine, while the Sport, Sport-L, and Sport Touring models have a hybrid motor that gets better gas mileage. The most common CR-V has front-wheel drive, while most have all-wheel drive. This car is one of a kind because it comes with all-wheel drive as standard.
