2025 Jeep wrangler Overview

What’s new:

  • The 4xe plug-in hybrid will get some improvements that still need to be named.
  • If not, only small changes will likely be made to the types that are already in use.
  • A part of the fourth version of the 2018 Wrangler.

The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most well-known cars ever made. Years of use have made the Wrangler more sturdy and appealing, and as car technology has improved, it has become even easier to use. The Wrangler can also be customized for almost any journey thanks to its two body styles, a wide range of accessories, and different powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid. Some people think that the 4xe plug-in hybrid Wrangler will get better, even though Jeep has no plans to change the Wrangler for 2025. The all-electric range will be longer, but only time will tell.

Wranglers have been the car of choice for off-road enthusiasts for a long time, and the newest model is happy to carry on this tradition. The Jeep Wrangler can go off-road in surprising ways, even in the base trim levels. If you add kits for locking differentials, stronger axles, and better shocks, you can use some strong and reliable gear. Over the years, every part of the famous Jeep has been improved to make it even easier to drive off-road. This includes the low and narrow hood and where the controls are placed inside.

Even though there is only one Jeep, the Ford Bronco is a good alternative. When it comes to competition, the Bronco is the strongest and most direct rival to the Wrangler. It is just as tough and easier to drive on roads, and it comes in a lot of different trim levels and options. You can go almost anywhere in the Toyota 4Runner if you buy the most expensive off-road packages. The Jeep is also a good choice if you want something with a roof that doesn’t come off.

Pros

  • Very good at driving off-road.
  • A lot of ways to make it your own.
  • Hybrid engines that can be plugged in.
  • Doors and a lid that slides back.

Cons

  • It looks like it’s not tight, and the driving could be faster, especially in the Rubicon trim.
  • The wind and tires make a lot of noise at highway speeds.
  • There are more places to put your bags than in some regular SUVs.

What about how the Wrangler is driven? People like the Wrangler because it is good at going off-road. The Rubicon grade offers great off-road performance. Our test Wrangler could come with even the Xtreme off-road package, which comes with big 37-inch tires and more ground clearance. This SUV can handle almost anything, from going over dunes to a rough road. But the feeling of driving is a little different. It’s hard to steer the Wrangler, and the steering needs to be changed often while driving on the highway to keep the car in its lane. The V6 engine speeds up slowly, and it takes a long time to stop in an emergency.

How cozy is the inside of the Wrangler? The Jeep Wrangler’s off-road suspension and tires can handle ruts, bumps, and potholes well, which is helpful when going on the street. Even though the ride is rough, you can finally drive around town without worrying too much about what you might hit. Besides that, the Wrangler only does something else to make normal driving more comfortable. Because they are stiff and flat, the front seats don’t offer much support. It can be hard to concentrate on long trips in the Wrangler, with its loud tires and wind noise.

How is the inside? Many people can see the Wrangler from below. Shorter drivers will most likely need to use the pillar’s grab handle to get in. When you get inside, the small cabin and close-fitting vertical window will catch your eye. However, the Ford Bronco’s trunk is a lot bigger. We like the Wrangler’s simple features and commanding driving position, though.

What’s wrong with the tech? The big touchscreen in the middle of the Wrangler reacts quickly to touches and is easy to see in any light. Smartphone integration for Android Auto and Wireless CarPlay are standard features, and there are also a lot of off-road apps to help you enjoy the scenery. The Wrangler does not have any high-tech driving assistance systems, though. A lot of the Wrangler models come with something other than basic Jeep features like adaptive cruise control and blind-spot warning.

What’s going on with storage? The Jeep’s small body limits how much gear it can carry, but it’s great on narrow roads. The Wrangler’s boxy shape makes it easier to load up with gear, but the Ford Bronco has a little more room. Up front, there are few places to put small things, and the door pockets are just thin nets. The four-door Unlimited can fit child safety seats that aren’t too big, but if the seat faces backward, the front seat may need to be folded forward. When it’s ready, the Wrangler can pull up to 5,000 pounds and be pulled behind a trailer flat.

How much fuel does it use? The EPA says that the four-door Wrangler can get up to 20 mpg in the city and on the highway. This is true for both four-cylinder and V6 engines with automatic gears. A few of them, like the Rubicon, only get about 17 mpg. Overall, the Wrangler gets about the same gas mileage as other off-road SUVs, like the Ford Bronco. We did our tests in the field and agreed with the EPA’s figures.

Is the Wrangler worth a lot? One of the best things about the Wrangler is that it comes in many different price ranges. From the simple Wrangler Sport to the fully loaded Rubicon 392, you should be able to find a Wrangler that fits your budget. Overall, you’re getting a good deal. The fabrics used for the dashboard and seats look good and feel good to the touch. Most of the switches have unique designs and are fun to use. Jeep’s guarantee covers little.

It’s no secret that the Wrangler is one of the most exclusive cars you can buy. There is no doubt that the Wrangler is the most important vehicle in this market. However, the Bronco, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and, to a lesser extent, the Land Rover Defender are also important. This unique SUV has been around for a long time and has a lot of fans.

Jeep has yet to make any public announcements about the 2025 Wrangler as of this writing. Our review will be updated if anything changes, but based on the Wrangler from last year, the Willys has a good mix of features and price. It can go off-road better with a locking rear joint and better all-terrain tires. But people who want to take their Wrangler deep into the woods might want to buy a Rubicon or Rubicon X.

Several types of Jeep Wrangler

The Jeep Wrangler comes in two- and four-door styles, which are called “Unlimited.” The main trim options are Sport, Sport S, Rubicon, Sahara, High Altitude, and Rubicon 392. Some sub-trims, like the Willys, are built on one of the main trims. You can read a different Invoices review of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid here.
