2025 Kia K5 Overview

What’s new:

  • The outside and interior designs have been revised.
  • The screen size is the normal 12.3 inches.
  • This increases the new base engine’s power.
  • Part of the initial wave of K5s, released in 2021.

When Kia unveiled the K5 for the 2021 model year, it wasn’t simply a successor to the Optima. It produced a vehicle that was so superb that it became our top midsize sedan. After four years, the new 2025 Kia K5 maintains that pace. There is a new standard engine, a nicer cabin, and a completely new front and rear design. In 2025, a new non-turbocharged four-cylinder engine will replace the present turbocharged basic engine. It produces somewhat more horsepower but not as much speed. The EPA claims that the gas mileage is practically identical. What is the result? It will not drive much differently. However, the inside of the 2025 K5 is noticeably different.

The changes on the inside are larger than those on the outside, which are difficult to see from the outside. A new touchscreen was installed on the instrument panel without incident, and the temperature settings were modified to look more current. Even the cupholders in the dashboard get a fresh design. Some features that were previously exclusively available as option packages are now standard on all Kia vehicles. Additionally, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless connectivity have been added to the list of standard features. Even while it isn’t anything new, it makes the K5 appear much more current than you may expect.

Think of the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry as formidable competitors. Both are popular among clients and sell well in their respective sectors. Even though none of them have as much power as the K5 GT, their hybrid powertrains provide greater gas mileage. The Hyundai Sonata is another formidable competitor. It shares many of the same features as the K5 and is physically attached to it. One significant distinction is that the Sonata’s hybrid version is available and has a distinctive appearance.

Pros

  • Highway driving is quiet and pleasant.
  • A powerful turbocharged engine in a GT body.
  • It features an all-wheel drive.
  • There are plenty of tools for the price.

Cons

  • The slanted top makes it difficult to reach the back seats.
  • There are no combinations available.

How does the K5 draw power? The Kia K5’s new base engine has not yet been thoroughly tested, but it will perform similarly to last year’s engine. There should be adequate electricity to do normal tasks. The K5 remains stable as you turn, and the brakes are simple to operate and feel terrific. This automobile is simple to get into and drive every day. The GT, which has a superior engine, is another alternative if you want a car with sportier handling that complements its appearance.

How warm and comfortable is the K5? The K5 is just as quiet on the highway as some luxury vehicles. The front seats are comfortable for extended periods due to adequate padding and support provided by the side bolsters. It’s good that the suspension can withstand road bumps without becoming overly soft. We’re especially amazed by how effectively the temperature control technology keeps the cabin cool on hot days.

What condition is the inside in? The interior of the K5 was deliberately designed to be user-friendly. There was no need to consult the owner’s manual because all of the controls were properly labeled and rationally organized despite the numerous electrical features.

In addition to being quite large, the inside boasts plenty of legroom and only a little forehead space. Large people, on the other hand, should have no difficulty going to the front. Because the front roof beams are so small, you can see far ahead. A tall rear decklid makes it slightly more difficult to see out the back, although it does not significantly obstruct the view.

What is wrong with the technology? The K5’s tablet is simple to operate, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto may be used wirelessly. There is a wireless charging stand with a fan to keep it cool and a clever spring-loaded feature to keep your phone in place. The K5 comes equipped with a plethora of high-tech driving aids. They performed admirably in our tests, causing no false alarms to sound. The K5 boasts one of the best tech configurations in its class overall.

How is the store’s situation? Despite its appearance, the K5 is not a hatchback. The basic trunk’s broad, low opening makes it simple to carry large items, and at 15.6 cubic feet, it has slightly more space than normal. To load longer items, use the seatback releases that are placed in the trunk.

There are several areas in the cabin where you can put your belongings, including a huge middle armrest bin, another rubberized phone tray, and a charging station. Fitting a large car seat should be simple, and the bolts are easily accessible.

How much fuel does it use? According to the EPA, the base-engine K5 can achieve up to 30 mpg in both city and highway driving. This is typical for base-engine vehicles in this category. However, a hybrid K5 is not viable.

Does the K5 have any value? When it comes to value for money, the Kia K5 has a slight edge over the competition. Each trim level following the first improves the price-to-feature ratio. Some options aren’t on the list, such as a head-up display and genuine leather inside (the K5 has synthetic leather), but we don’t believe most customers will care about them.

The K5 is exceptionally nicely built, and the materials inside are superior to those in other cars in its class. Hard plastics are still utilized, but they are carefully placed to keep their appearance away from areas that will be touched frequently. Kia provides excellent warranty coverage. The powertrain warranty lasts ten years and 100,000 miles, while the standard warranty lasts five years and 60,000 miles.

The outside looks amazing for a car in this class, which is typically somewhat bland—one of those cars you could admire for a while before entering. We don’t have great expectations for performance and enjoyment in family sedans, but the K5 does a nice job of showcasing itself.

The GT-Line is still the best option. It is a significant upgrade over the original design and includes a plethora of additional features that you can customize. It also looks better and offers all-wheel drive as an option.
