One of the best three-row SUVs on the market is the Mercedes-Benz GLS 2025. It is also the biggest SUV that the German company makes. We expect the GLS to come back mostly the same in 2025, even though it got a major style update in 2024. Families will love it because the cabin is big and there’s a lot of space for stuff. When you fold down the third row, you can get to a large space for your bags in the back. The GLS is a great choice because it is very comfortable and has great technology, speed, and build quality.

The entertainment system in a Mercedes-Benz is one of the best out there. The USB-C plugs in all three rows charge your devices, and the touchscreen is quick and simple to use. The driving aids we have now are also pretty cool. All of the built-in safety and convenience features—adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and forward accident mitigation—work very well to make driving easier and maybe even safer.

It’s possible to get an even bigger SUV than the Mercedes GLS. The Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator, both built on trucks, are stylish and capable options. What kind of car is the GLS-Class? It was tried out the GLE 450. You don’t have to upgrade to the full version, even though this is the basic one. It took less than 5.8 seconds to reach 60 mph on our test track, faster than a Cadillac Escalade. In town, speeding up is easy and smooth. We also liked how safe the GLS was to drive and how strong its brakes were. The GLS is easy to drive in traffic or parking spots because it doesn’t require much effort.

What does the GLS-Class feel like? The GLS’s front seats can be used in a number of ways and are very comfortable. Your level of comfort will stay the same even after many hours of drive. The heated and cooled seats work well, and the automatic climate control system quickly evens out the temperature inside.

There is some noise from outside, and the road noise from the uneven sidewalk is also there. The ride quality is much better with the extra E-Active Body Control suspension. It smooths out most of the bumps in the road without sagging or rolling around. Many SUVs’ big wheels can make the ride rougher, but our test car, which had extra 21-inch wheels, seemed to be fine.

How is the state of the inside? In almost every way, the inside of the GLS is great. Even though you’re a confident and stern driver, the GLS always makes you feel at ease. Each of the three rows has plenty of room, but the third row is the easiest for people over six feet to get to. The big windows let you see better from all sides and make the back seats less crowded for the people sitting there.

The buttons are well-marked and easy to reach, but the small writing on them means you have to focus on them while driving until you develop the muscle memory you need. Also, I wouldn’t say I like how the controls for the door and the entertainment system are different from the controls for the seats.

What’s wrong with the tech? Even though Mercedes’ infotainment system is hard to get used to at first, it is still a wonder and the best in its class. There are several reasons to use the guidance system instead of a mapping app on your phone. The most prominent features are the augmented reality overlay and the turn-by-turn directions that are displayed in the head-up display and the instrument compartment. Right in front of the cupholders is a standard wireless charge pad. There are USB-C ports in each of the three rows.

The GLS stands out because of its high-tech driving aids. One of the most amazing technologies we’ve examined is adaptive cruise control. Keeping a safe distance from traffic, the system can stop the GLS completely and then start it up again when traffic moves again.

What’s going on with storage? The GLS has a trunk area that can hold up to 84.7 cubic feet of things when the front seats are folded down. When each row is standing, the space available drops to 17.4 cubes, which is not enough to hold everyone’s things. The Navigator has 103.3 cubic feet of room behind the front seats, which is more than the GLS. However, the GLS is still a good choice for its class.

You can press buttons in the hatch to fold the second and third rows of seats flat and drop them. The bedroom has many pockets, drawers, and cup holders to keep small things safe. When properly equipped, the GLS 450 can pull up to 7,700 pounds, which is plenty for most small and medium-sized trailers.

How much fuel does it use? The EPA says that the GLS 450 we tried should get 21 mpg when driving in both cities and on the highway. That’s amazing for a car this size and weight. The EPA’s prediction was backed up by our test GLS’s 21 mpg rating on our real-world review route. All V8-powered GLS cars, on the other hand, use a lot more gas than other vehicles.

Is the GLS Class a good deal? The GLS is already very pricey, and the price goes up a lot when a lot of extras are added. The GLS has the best build quality and smoothness of any car in this price range, but that’s standard for high-end SUVs. Compared to other brands, Mercedes’ guarantee could be better.

The GLS is the best luxury SUV with three rows of seats. It’s powerful when you need it to be, comfortable and quiet when you’re moving, and stylish without being too flashy.

As of this writing, Mercedes-Benz has not released any official details about the 2025 GLS. If anything changes, we’ll let you know, but based on the GLS from last year, we suggest you start with the base GLS 450. It has enough power for a big luxury SUV and can be equipped with almost all of the extras that come with the GLS 580.
