2025 Mini Countryman Overview

What’s new:

  • The Countryman will come out in 2025 after being completely redesigned.
  • Bigger on the inside and outside, with more room for people and things.
  • It’s better than ever in terms of tech.
  • The third generation of Countrymen has begun.

The Mini Countryman is a small crossover SUV that was all new for 2025 and can fit five people. People see the Countryman as an alternative to entry-level luxury SUVs. The outside and inside are bright and unique, and the turbocharged engines make it go quickly. There is also an electric version that can go 212 miles on a single charge and doesn’t need gas. Because it’s bigger, the updated 2025 Countryman is more comfortable and can carry more than the previous model. So far, though, what we’ve seen is that driving isn’t as fun.

For the Countryman, Mini adds two new technological features. The first is the infotainment system, which is housed in a round touchscreen in the middle that looks like the big speedometers that used to be on old Minis. No wires. The digital voice assistant is a British dog named Spike, and you can change how it talks. Spotify has already been installed, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. With AirConsole technology, you can play and control video games on the center screen with your phone. The SUV has the second-best safety technology. It’s better all around now, and it comes with a hands-free driving feature that works at speeds below 37 mph.

Mini wants the Countryman to be an alternative to other entry-level luxury crossover SUVs. The Mercedes-Benz GLB and electric EQB, the Volvo XC40 and electric EX40, and the Audi Q3 and electric Q4 E-tron are the main cars that compete with it. When it comes to performance, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 and the BMW X1 M35i are the main cars that the John Cooper Works competes with in a more exclusive market.

Pros

  • More space for things, people, and pets.
  • A classic Mini design that creatively uses new materials.
  • Better riding experience and faster acceleration.
  • Better entertainment and safety systems.

Cons

  • The romantic feeling has gone away when it comes to driving dynamics.
  • Touchscreens take a long time to respond to input.
  • The electric version can go a fair distance.

How does the MINI Countryman feel about driving? We tested the Countryman electric. Its name is SE All4 by Mini. It goes a lot faster than the model that runs on gasoline. Our SE All4 test car went from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds on our Edmunds test track. The electric Countryman moves quickly, even at highway speeds or at a red light. Braking is calm and sure of itself, especially at sudden stops. The Mini also lets you drive with just one pedal. People still say that the ride is too firm most of the time. You’ll be able to see every crack in the road, which might bother some people.

The newest Countryman model is just as fun to drive and throw around as the ones that came before it. The new Countryman has better low-end acceleration, but it still has its own unique driving experience on highways and winding roads.

How comfortable is it to drive the MINI Countryman? Overall, the largest Mini has enough space inside to be comfortable. The Countryman has much space for your legs and head, which makes getting in and out easy. This Countryman’s cabin is very quiet because it doesn’t have an engine to block out noise. Even though the padding is firm, the seats are supportive and easy to adjust.

How does the tech work? Overall, the technical features are great, but the usability is a problem. The infotainment OLED screen has a high resolution, a lot of cool tech features, and clear graphics. However, there aren’t many physical buttons to control basic functions like the climate control, which could make the car harder to use and distract the driver. There are too many steps needed to get to the features in the infotainment menus. Also, we don’t like how Android Auto or Apple CarPlay look on the screen because the interface has been shrunk to fit the round screen.

How is the storage and cargo going? The Mini Countryman can hold 25 cubic feet of luggage when the back seats are folded down and 56.2 cubic feet when they are raised. When compared to cars like the Tesla Model Y, this isn’t as good. The trunk and storage space are good for small families, but there won’t be much extra room. There isn’t much space for small items to be stored because the center console only has a small cubby and cupholders in the middle. Everyone can use the storage space in the doors, but there isn’t much room elsewhere.

How much fuel does it use? It took Edmunds 218 miles to charge our SE All4 test vehicle, and it used 32.2 kWh/100 miles. When we tested how fast the Mini could charge, it averaged 265 miles per hour, which means that it takes about 23 minutes to add 100 miles of range. The rating makes it sound like these are the best numbers for similar electric cars, but they’re not. If you don’t like the Mini brand, look at other options that meet these important EV standards.

What is the price of a MINI Countryman?  When compared to cars like the Tesla Model Y, which have longer battery life and more space for the same price, the Mini Countryman lineup is not the best deal. You could get more space, a longer range, and faster acceleration with this amount of money. Just remember that you’re paying more for the Mini experience, which focuses on the unique looks of the outside and inside as well as the fun, quirky personality of the Mini.

WeTheountryman’s build quality, overall fit, and finish are better than those of its competitors, even though they cost more. It costs more, but the inside feels fancier and more high-end.

The best thing about the Mini Countryman is its X-factor. The car’s uniqueness can be seen in how it drives, how it looks on the outside and inside, and in small design details like the infotainment screen’s unique round shape. The EV powertrain’s passing power and off-the-line speed make driving more fun. But the X factor by itself isn’t enough to beat competitors who offer more space, faster acceleration, and longer battery life at about the same price.

If you’re not interested in the electric version of the new Countryman, we suggest the S All4 trim level, which comes with iconic features and the Favoured Style package. The drivetrain has all-wheel drive and quick acceleration as standard, but upgrade packages add appealing features and a more unique look. You might want to buy an adaptive suspension to improve its handling and ride.
