The lightest 992 Porsche 911 is the latest limited edition. A limited-edition 2024 911 S/T has a GT3 Touring body, a manual gearbox, and a 518-hp GT3 RS engine. Only 1963 Porsche 911 60th anniversary limited edition cars will be built. Starts at $291,650. Porsche is striving to prove again that each 911 model is unique and serves a function. It’s amazing how many 911 models exist. The 911 S/T, the latest special edition, contains more details. Significant differences this time. Porsche intends to combine the GT3 Touring’s practicality with the 911 GT3 RS’s track speed. The GT3 RS’s 518 horsepower will transfer over to the S/T. The GT3 Touring body is used for the S/T for rural roads, not time trials. Giving up on huge track day goals may cost you a few tenths of pure speed. Why is this smart? You ask. Three wheels. Why is slow better? Why? Three bike pedals. Porsche claims that S/T engineers designed the new clutch for the model. A single-mass flywheel and new clutch reduce the car’s rotational mass by 23 pounds. Due to its smaller weight and shorter gear ratio, Porsche claims it responds faster than the GT3. Porsche claims the 911 S/T can hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and 186 mph on a track. It’s fast but slower than a GT3 with PDK. Engineers did more than lighten the clutch. The hood, top, front fenders, doors, and back axle anti-roll bar and shear panel are CFRP. Magnesium-wheeled cars are standard. Forged magnesium wheels cost $15,640 on the 2023 718 Cayman GT4 RS. The anniversary model has a lithium-ion starter battery, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB), and lightweight glass. The S/T weighs 3056 pounds. This weighs 70 pounds less than a GT3 Touring manual. CO2 bins Porsche designed the S/T for off-roading, not racing, as seen by its lack of a rear wing. The larger back spoiler has a Gurney flap. CFRP box seats are standard, while the four-way adjustable Sports Seat Plus is free. The 20-inch front tires are 255/35ZR-20, while the 21-inch back tires are 315/30ZR-21. Only the S/T has Ceramica wheels, Shore Blue Metallic colour, and the Heritage Design package. Cognac fabric seat centres have black stripes. The 911 S/T model name and Porsche logo are gold on the back. Only 1963 911s will be manufactured for the 911’s 60th anniversary. US deliveries begin in April 2024 at $291,650.
