• Mid-size SUV Kia Sorento has been redesigned.
  • A larger entertainment screen was added inside.
  • The 2025 Sorento will debut in the U.S.

The fourth-generation Kia Sorento, a mid-size SUV, is in decent form but needs a mid-cycle update. This car features new screens and a redesigned front and back. We anticipate the 2025 Sorento will be offered in the U.S. after Kia told C/D that the 2024 model would be a carryover.

New headlights and hood make the 2025 Sorento intriguing. LED accent strips resemble the new Kia EV9’s lighting. The back taillights now include a new component that joins the two side light bars. The Korean model has new wheels and a brown hue.

The central infotainment and digital instrument panel screens are the most considerable changes. The center screen will run Kia’s latest infotainment software, and the digital gauge cluster will be larger than the current Sorento’s top trims. Like the Sportage and EV6, the dashboard has a touch bar for HVAC and navigation.

The Sorento’s powertrains—a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with normally aspirated and turbocharged choices, a 227-hp hybrid system, and a 261-hp plug-in hybrid with an EPA-estimated 32-mile electric range—are unlikely to change. LX, EX, S.X., and X Line trim levels should last.

The 2025 Sorento may launch in Korea, and subsequently, the U.S. Kia has yet to announce much about the 2024 model year, so the 2024 Sorento may only be available for a short time until the more robust 2025 model comes out.
