From the 2025 model year on, Lotus will add a new four-cylinder turbocharged engine to the Emira. Along with the V-6 option, the Emira Turbo SE raises the base four-cylinder engine’s 360 horsepower to 400 horsepower. Lotus says that the Turbo SE is only sold in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. The last gas-powered car that the famous British company made was the Lotus Emira. In the US, the Emira comes with two different types of engines. Toyota has a V-6 engine with 400 horsepower, while AMG has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 360 horsepower. Lotus now has a third engine option available in some countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. With the new engine in the Emira Turbo SE type, the four-cylinder’s power goes from 360 to 400 horsepower, the same as the V-6. Torque goes up from 317 to 354 pound-feet as well. Just like the regular turbocharged Emira, the Turbo SE’s eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox only sends power to the back wheels. If you want the third gear, you have to order the V-6. Lotus says that the faster time from 0 to 60 mph (4.0 seconds) is due to the higher power numbers compared to the original setup’s time of 4.3 seconds. The top speed goes up by 11 mph to 180 mph. Along with the Lotus Drivers pack, the new trim level has better two-piece brakes, launch control, and stronger suspension. The Turbo SE stands out from the base model with its impressive standard features, including stylish V-spoke forged Satin Grey wheels, eye-catching red brake calipers, and unique Emira Turbo SE badging. While Lotus has yet to announce plans for the Turbo SE’s release in North America, the possibility remains open and exciting for enthusiasts.
