The electric Ram 1500 REV will go on sale after the plug-in hybrid Ram 1500 Ramcharger in 2025. Ram says the choice was made because more people wanted PHEVs, and fewer people wanted EV pickup trucks. The Ramcharger will be available for order in the first half of next year, a timeline that was originally set for the REV, which is now expected to go on sale in 2026. The company is considering the first electric pickup truck from Ram. It was originally planned that the Ram 1500 REV would go on sale in the first half of 2025. But the truck company has chosen to put the Ram 1500 Ramcharger, its first plug-in hybrid pickup, into production before the EV. Ram said today that its original plan has been changed. One reason given for the decision was the Ramcharger, which uses a gas engine to charge its battery. This takes away some of the range of worry that some customers feel when they own an EV. Another reason was that the market for electric trucks was shrinking. Also, the Ramcharger is less likely to have problems when using an electric truck for pulling. The bigger 229.0-kWh battery in the REV is said to give it a range of up to 500 miles, but this has yet to be officially proven. A 350-kW DC fast-charge link is said to increase range by 110 miles in ten minutes. Naturally, critics will point out that filling the Ramcharger’s fuel tank will take less time. We don’t know how much either of Ram’s electric trucks will cost, but the all-electric truck will be more expensive. The Ram 1500 REV will be sold in 2026, and the Ram 1500 Ramcharger 2025 will be out in the first half of 2025. The plant for Ram in Sterling Heights, Michigan, will make both of these cars, along with the rest of the brand’s half-ton fleet.
