Every version of the 2025 Ram HD trucks features an upgraded Cummins diesel engine, now delivering 430 horsepower and 1,075 pound-feet of torque. The trucks get a new eight-speed automatic TorqueFlite transmission, a 3.42 rear-axle ratio, and boast a maximum towing capacity of 36,610 pounds. The HD gets a new face and smaller, more modern LED headlights, as well as other changes to the interior, safety, and technology. People who wanted a qualified workhorse had to wait until now for the heavy-duty lineup to be updated. The light-duty Ram 1500, on the other hand, has already been completely redesigned for the 2025 model year. The Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks have been updated in the same way as their half-ton peers, with major changes to the powertrain, new styling, new interior furniture, and a few safety and technology improvements. The 2025 Ram HDs still come with both gas and diesel engine choices. The gasser has a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine with 405 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque that is built to last. But Ram says that 70% of HD buyers would rather have an oil-burning engine, and the old Cummins diesel 6.7-liter inline-six engine has been improved. Cummins used to make both normal and high-output versions, but the high-output version was only available on 3500 models. All HD trucks made after 2025 will have a smart, high-output Cummins engine. The massive 1,075 pound-feet of torque remains unchanged, but the horsepower increases to 430, which is 30 more than the previous H.O. Cummins. Even with the improvements, the 2025 HD can only pull 36,610 pounds with the H.O. Cummins engine, which is 480 pounds less than the car that was leaving. The 2025 HD’s highest towing capacity comes with a slight trade-off due to its new TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission and 3.42 rear-axle ratio. The Cummins could only be bought with an old six-speed automatic transmission until recently. The Hemi, on the other hand, could be bought with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Even though exact estimates of how much fuel economy will improve are not known, Ram says that the new eight-speed and differential combination will make the car more efficient and lower its rpm, especially on highways. Since it came out in September of last year, the Ram HD’s new front-end look has been criticized. All of the new trucks have new noses, but they are all pointy in the front, just like the old HD. The more fancy models, like the Longhorn and Laramie, have brightwork made of chrome. The simpler Tradesman and off-road-ready Rebel models, on the other hand, have blacked-out grilles. Taillights come in two varieties: basic and premium. The premium ones have C-shaped LED pipes, and the basic ones have stylish split-tier LED lamps. Many of the changes made to the inside of the HD are also made to the light-duty Ram 1500. The redesigned internal tech suite includes a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a larger 14.5-inch infotainment screen, and a new 10.3-inch passenger display. The Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, and Limited trim levels also use new materials. Some trims let you choose a new color for the inside. Now, all cars come with adaptive cruise control and forward impact alert. The Big Horn has parking sensors in both the front and back, and better trim levels have features like lane-keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, and drowsy driver detection. The new HD has a camera that can see in all directions and blind-spot cameras that turn on automatically when the turn signs are on to help with pulling a trailer. There are the same shows in 2025 HD as there were in 2024. Some of the options you can choose from are Big Horn, Laramie, Power Wagon, Tradesman, Lone Star, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and Rebel. You can choose from different cab types and bed lengths, as well as rear- or four-wheel drive. Price ranges for the 2019 Ram HD 2500 and 3500 starts at $47,560 and $48,565, respectively. There are plans for the lineup to arrive at stores in the coming months.
