Volkswagen showed off the limited-edition 2024 VW Golf R 333 last week. It has a unique look, more power, and a shocking price of 76,410 euros, or $81,582. As the name suggests, Volkswagen is only making 333 of these Golfs for Germany. Even though they are the most expensive Golfs ever made, all 333 were sold in just eight minutes.

Stefan Voswinkel, who is in charge of product relations at VW, said a few days ago on LinkedIn that the Golf R 333 is sold out. Even for a Golf R, that was a lot. The man said the limited-edition Golf R 333 sold out in eight minutes!

What do all 333 owners get in return for the money they put in? The Golf R 333 has a unique look, with 19-inch Y-spoke wheels, and a black roof, among other things. Also, the side skirts have black “333” stickers to show how unusual they are. On the other hand, the inside of the car doesn’t change much except for a small plaque with the car’s licence number.

The famous 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the Golf R 333 makes 329 horsepower, just a bit of power under the hood. It has semi-slick tires and an Akrapovic titanium exhaust, so it should handle and sound better. Volkswagen increased the electrically controlled top speed to 168 mph so the cars could drive faster on the Autobahn.

Is the high price worth it because of the small changes and the fact that there are only 333 owners? Three hundred thirty-three people agree. But it’s important to remember that German prices include VAT, while the MSRP in the US does not. Still, only a particular VW fan would spend that much money on a specific paint job and an exhaust that could be bought elsewhere. And, of course, the stickers. You can only do without the stickers.

In October, 333 buyers will start getting their cars.
