• Manthey Race, Porsche’s exclusive race partner, has crafted a performance upgrade that is a rare privilege, available only for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
  • The Manthey-equipped Cayman, with its new rear wing, delivers a thrilling 372 pounds of downforce at 124 mph, significantly enhancing its performance and handling.
  • The $53,946 package comes with a revised suspension and other speed goodies, among other things.

Since the new 911 GT3 came out, Porsche has been advertising Manthey Racing’s speed package to people in the US. In the Lightning Lap race the year before, a GT3 modified with Manthey Racing gear was 0.8 seconds faster than a stock GT3. Porsche’s Manthey line now includes a new kit for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS. This new version should be faster than the GT4 RS, which set a time of 2:40.5 at Lightning Lap.

A $54,000 Manthey Racing Performance Kit is now included with the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

Like the 911 GT3, the main problems are with the chassis and how the car moves through the air. When the engine cover is opened, a bigger rear wing with a swan-neck shape is visible. This gives drivers more setup and adjustment options. The wing makes 372 pounds of downforce at 124 mph when it is in the “Performance” mode, which is designed for the track. The standard GT4 RS only makes 196 pounds of downforce at that speed. Manthey added carbon-fiber supports to the engine cover and raised the front spring rates by 20% to deal with the heavy downward pressure.

Porsche and Manthey also collaborated on a special coilover suspension for track use. The stages of compression and rebound can be changed without tools, and the spring struts can be moved to four different places. Cars with and without the extra front axle lift system may have different chassis arrangements.

Porsche thinks that the steel brake lines on the GT4 RS make the pedal feel better and the way the stopping force is distributed better, among other things. The back wheels have aerodrome covers, and owners can ask for tow loops so they can get their cars back on the course. It’s fine that Manthey Racing doesn’t change anything about the engine since the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six makes 493 horsepower.

Porsche proudly announces that a Cayman GT4 RS with the new Manthey upgrade set a blistering lap time of 7:03:121 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 2023, a staggering six seconds faster than the normal model, instilling confidence in the kit’s performance.

The system, which costs $53,946 before installation fees, can be ordered by Porsche stores starting this summer. For an extra $5,890, buyers can add carbon fiber gurney flaps to the front fender louvers and back ducktail spoiler, which will add 4% more downforce to the rear. The mid-engine Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS would easily cost more than $200,000 with the kit. The car’s price starts at $163,650.
