The newest Forza Motorsport game has been out for about a week now, and reviews have been, at best, mixed. People have said many bad things about the Builder’s Cup single-player mission. At first, each real car (not a model) had to be played for about two hours before it could get any improvements. Because it got a lot of bad reviews, the Builder’s Cup has been dramatically scaled back in Forza Motorsport version 1.0.

Forza Motorsport’s Builder’s Cup story mode was meant to be an essential single-player feature that made players more likely to stick with one car instead of switching them out all the time. As you earned Car XP, different parts would become available at different levels. The best and highest level parts would be unlocked at level 50. It would take about two hours to get to level 50, and it would only work for the car you are driving, not for other copies of the same car. For instance, you could only improve that Civic Type R after reaching the highest level in the game. You would have to level up and race another to make it better.

After many complaints, Forza Motorsport took down its controversial method for upgrading cars

The Turn 10 update dramatically lowers the level needed for upgrades, but it doesn’t change one very annoying thing about the game. All upgrades can now be unlocked at level 25 instead of level 50. Some upgrades, like body kits, engine changes, turbo kits, and tire compounds, can be unlocked much earlier. It is now level three, not level eleven, where all wheels and tires are fully opened. Just one Builders Cup match should be enough to change a car altogether.

Aside from saying earlier this week on the Forza website that it has been “reading your feedback and listing to your concerns,” the developer hasn’t said much about how people feel about the game. They noted, “Forza Motorsport has been designed to be a racing platform that will change and adapt over time.” Along with the changes to the Builder’s Cup, version 1.0 has a lot of bug fixes and performance improvements.

Fans say things, and the company seems to hear them and act quickly. Being in charge of one of the most popular racing game names returning after being away for more than five years is not easy. On the other hand, Turn 10 is doing everything it can.
