• After months of rum ours, Dodge finally showed the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 to the public.
  • After destination fees and the federal gas guzzler tax, the Demon 170 starts at $100,361.
  • Between July, when production starts, and December, when the V-8 Hellcat engine is no longer made, Dodge will only make about 3000 Demon 170s.

Seven months after announcing the first “Last Call” Charger or Challenger, Dodge has shown off the seventh one and told us how much it will cost. Dodge couldn’t help itself when deciding on the starting price of the Demon, which is $96,666 (get it?) before destination charges and the gas-guzzler tax. After adding the shipping cost of $1595 and the gas-guzzler tax of $2100, the new Demon’s base price is $100,361.

The high price of the new Demon is more than made up for by its horsepower rating in the four-figure range and the racing skills it needs. You’re not the only one who cringes at spending $100,000 on a Challenger. CEO Tim Konicki’s says that while making the Hellcat, Dodge made many changes and accidentally blew up seven engines. When set up right, the new Demon has 1025 horsepower and 945 pound-feet of torque. This shows that the work was worth it. The Demon 170 has 900 horsepower and 810 pound-feet of torque on regular pump gasoline, but it needs a mixture of E85 flex fuel to work right.

Even though it costs a lot, the Demon 170 gives you choices. Like the old Demon, the 170 has one cloth-covered driver’s seat as standard. Back then, a passenger seat cost $1. We sat in the Hellcat Challenger’s interior before it was officially shown to the public. It had two front bucket seats made of optional Napa leather.

For $11,495 per set, you can get aluminum or carbon fiber wheels. The upgraded wheels look the same as the stock wheels but weigh 25 pounds less. Dodge also has a package of street tires, but the price still needs to be determined.

When production starts in July, there will be fewer than 3300 of them. Dodge wants to make as many as 3,000 cars for the U.S. and 300 for Canada before production stops on December 31.
