The sporty Kia Stinger car was thought to be nearing the end of its useful life just three years ago. Still, the Korean automaker surprised everyone by redesigning it entirely and adding a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine last year. The 2019 Invoice Pricing Car of the Year, the Genesis G70 sport sedan, which is mechanically similar, is now getting the same base powertrain upgrade. This will make both sports cars last a few more years. In addition to having more power, the updated G70 now has the following benefits.

As of 2024, the Genesis G70 Sport Sedan has Brembo brakes and Stinger power

2024 Genesis G70 Power and Stopping Power

The 2024 G70 car has a new standard 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, making 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. It’s better than last year’s base four-cylinder engine, a 2.0-liter turbo I-4 with “only” 255 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The G70’s new engine also helps Genesis sell itself better since the company can now say that the G70 has the most standard power in its class. It will still be possible to get the G70 with the 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine with 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque, assuming the power numbers from last year’s model haven’t changed. Genesis should have included a power number for the 3.3-liter in the 2024 update.

Genesis has also improved every G70 model by adding a standard Brembo brake system to ensure everything stays in check with the extra power. The recently updated 3.3L G70 stopped from 60 mph in 121 feet during our 2022 First Test, which was alright. The test was done before the 2024 model year improvement. We’re interested to know whether the Brembo kit will be essential.

What we know about the Genesis G70 for 2024

The 2024 G70 also gets new paint jobs outside in Vatna Gray and Kawah Blue and a new Genesis logo with an etched Guilloché pattern that repeats. Genesis says the dashboard will have a new frameless rearview mirror, multi-function switches, redesigned cupholders and air vents, and new door and console garnishes. The temperature control display will also be on a tablet. There are now two new interior seating options in obsidian black: obsidian black with vanilla beige and obsidian black with fog gray. The new Genesis Digital Key 2 also works with Apple Pay and Samsung Pass, and users can trade virtual keys with each other at any time. There is also a new side airbag in the back and updated USB-C ports all over the car.

Overall, the 2024 power boost and changes to the inside of the G70 are excellent, especially considering that it was just updated. It shows that Genesis, a relatively new brand, wants to improve the driving experience by making vehicles more capable and offering cutting-edge technologies. As it adapts to the luxury market, it does this by making models like the G70 more powerful and appealing. Before the end of the year, we should know more about how much the improved 2024 G70 costs and when it will be available.
