SUVs because of airbag problems that could be very dangerous. Some Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse, and GMC Acadia types made between 2014 and 2017 are among the 994,763 GM cars directly affected by the recall.

NHTSA-sent documents say that the driver’s airbag inflator could explode when used. Sharp metal pieces could get into the car and cause much damage or even kill someone.

A GM report from Friday says that a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse was in an accident in March, and the front-driver airbag inflator burst when it went off. A later review noted that the car’s front-driver airbag inflator had been demolished.

The sellers of General Motors were to be told on May 10, 2023, and owners were to be told in late June. As part of the recall, the provider must replace the driver’s airbag at no cost. If car owners are afraid, they can check the NHTSA’s recalls page to see if their car is affected and learn more.

The NHTSA has asked ARC Automotive Inc must call back 67 million airbag inflators because of the risk that they pose of exploding. That request includes this recall. Public NHTSA documents suggest ARC declined. ARC airbag inflators have been called back in GM, Stellates’, BMW, and Hyundai Motor Group cars.
