• To test its new Valhalla supercar, Aston Martin is taking it out on the roads in the UK and a racetrack in Spain.
  • When production starts in the second quarter of this year, only 999 units are planned to be made.
  • The Valhalla’s twin-turbo V-8 makes 1064 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque when paired with three electric motors.

After two years of delays and significant changes from the 2019 model, Aston Martin finally showed off the Valhalla supercar last December in what should be its previous form. After showing the Valhalla on the road in a new set of pictures, Aston Martin is one step closer to starting to make them. That should happen in the second quarter of this year.

Aston Martin Tests A 1064-HP Valhalla Supercar Before It Goes On Sale In Q2

The pictures show that the final approval sign-off happened on both the IDIADA test track near Barcelona, Spain, and on highways in the UK, which is home to Aston Martin. On-track photos of the amazing racecar show it in two different green paint jobs: one that matches the sparkling Verdant Jade with Valkyrie Gold accents, and the other has a Podium Green body with a Lime Green stripe.

The car company has hired engineers from Aston Martin as well as three-time Le Mans class winner Darren Turner as a development driver. The most recent tests, which looked at steering, active aerodynamics, and thermal brakes, took place on the high-speed banking and wet handling course. A Valhalla on the road is getting its final damper tuning. It is painted Satin Scintilla Silver with a thin Lime Green stripe.

With the Valhalla, Aston Martin has made a huge step forward. Even though the brand has already made 275 mid-engined Valkyrie hypercars, the Valhalla is its first mid-engined (though limited to 999 units) and plug-in hybrid model. It has a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 4.0-liter V-8 engine that has been changed to have a dry-sump design.

Two electric motors on the front axle and one in the gearbox work together to make 1064 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque. The Valhalla can go from 0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 217 mph.
