With the Lamborghini Gallardo, everything changed for the company. The Hurricane that came after it gave Lamborghini something to sell to rich people who weren’t quite ready to buy a fast V12. The replacement for the Huracan will now be made on its own, without help from Audi. Lamborghini and Audi worked together to finish the concepts for the Gallardo and Huracan. By making a base that could hold both the Audi R8 and the Lamborghini, it was possible to split the development costs. But a Lamborghini official who talked to Drive.com.au says this isn’t necessary. The whole next-generation model will look like a charging bull. Francesco Scardaoni, who is in charge of Lamborghini’s Asia-Pacific business, said that the brand’s recent success meant that the new car didn’t need a new Audi design. Scardaoni told the Australian source, “We were permitted to set up our platform because we were making so much money.” This happens because the company’s present selection is selling better than ever. In 2022, the company shipped 9,233 cars, which was a record. It also made a profit of $670 million and had sales of $2.6 billion, which were both new highs for the Italian business. The rise in earnings over 2021 levels was 56.4%, which was already an excellent result for the company. Scardaoni says that being part of the VW Group and having a place to share is great in one way because you can talk about new ideas. But being able to make our platform gives us even more freedom to make one that fits the Lamborghini DNA perfectly. Even though the new Lamborghini platform is only available to the Italian company, Scardaoni did not rule out the possibility that other Volkswagen Group companies might look into the work of the Italian company in the future. “As of today, though, this will only be for Lamborghinis,” Scardaoni said. Plans for the end of a big company like the Audi-Volkswagen Group can change. Audi chose not to make a third-generation R8 with an internal combustion engine (ICE) in favour of an electric version that would come after. The car that comes after the Huracan will still use gas, but it may ditch the V10 in favor of a V8 with two turbochargers. No matter what, when it shows up around 2025, it will be sure to cause a stir.
