Sixty-two track-only Maserati Project24 supercars will be based on the MC20. The MC20’s Nettuno 3.0-liter V-6 engine now produces 740 horsepower, up 119. The engine has two new turbochargers. The Project24’s carbon fiber body, monocoque, FIA-grade roll cage, vented Brembo brakes, and sharp racing tires make it track-ready. Maserati has renamed Project24 the MCXtrema. The Quail will host the Monterey Car Week unveiling on August 18. Maserati says the MCXtrema now has 730 horsepower instead of 740. Maserati says all 62 were sold. The 2022 Maserati MC20 is a sleek supercar with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine. This revives a Stellantis brand with an outdated portfolio and shared parts bins with cheaper Stellantis products. MC20 performs well. With 621 horsepower from the Nettuno V-6, it can reach 202 and 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The wild, angular Maserati Project24, based on the MC20, is a track-only racecar. The Project24’s aggressive exterior and monocoque are carbon fiber. Maserati has only unveiled three computer-generated images of the Project24, showing its sizable back wing, a front splitter that cuts through your ankles, and miniature LED headlights and taillights. The streamlined two-door body sports a boxy rear diffuser, dual center exhaust pipes, and many scoops and vents. The Project24 features the same Nettuno 3.0-liter V-6 engine as the MC20, but new turbochargers enhance horsepower to 740, 119 more than the MC20. The MC20’s six-speed sequential race gearbox becomes an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and its electronically controlled limited-slip differential becomes mechanical. Maserati intends Project24’s dry weight to be under 2755 pounds, 500 pounds less than the MC20’s. It will have rear-wheel drive. The road-going Project24 sister will be two inches wider and sports 18-inch forged aluminium wheels with race rubber. With control arms of variable lengths, customizable dampers, and front and rear anti-roll bars, the Project24 should be fast on the track owing to Brembo brakes with vents. FIA-compliant Project24 sports a roll cage. Carbon-fibre steering wheels with displays, adjustable pedal boxes and steering columns, and race seats with six-point harnesses will also be included. Owners can install a tire-pressure monitoring system, in-car, rear-view, and telemetry recording. Air conditioning is odd for the Project24, a lightweight racing car. Maserati said Project24, which will produce 62 vehicles, has yet to release a release date. We’ll have more photographs and details soon.
