The 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition is the most extreme version of the mid-size pickup car. It has AEV steel shields, more full skid plates, and special 35-inch Goodyear mud-terrain tires that can be locked. The Canyon AEV is taller and more robust than the standard AT4X because it has a 4.5-inch factory lift and available Multimatic hydraulic bump stops. Some people thought the GMC Canyon AT4X couldn’t get any more wild, but the new AEV Edition for 2024 proves them wrong. The Canyon has 35-inch tires, more significant than the newly announced Ford Ranger Raptor and Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, which are also mid-size pickup trucks with an off-road focus. The Canyon AEV Edition is the most extreme Canyon because of this and other gear. The AT4X is taken to new heights by the AEV. The AEV Edition of the Canyon AT4X makes it better off-road like the Bison Edition of the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 makes that truck better off-road. The basic AT4X has 33-inch mud-terrain tires, aluminium skid plates, electronic locking front and rear differentials, Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, and a 3-inch lift that gives it 10.7 inches of ground clearance. The AEV Edition, please. It is 1.5 inches taller than the base AT4X because it has bigger Goodyear Wrangler Territory Mud-Terrain tires (GMC rounds these LT315/70R17 tires up to 35 inches) and a 4.5-inch lift. Because the front and back steel bumpers are made for AEVs, the car has a ground clearance of 12.2 inches, an approach angle of 38.2 degrees, an exit angle of 26.0 degrees, and an outbreak-over angle of 26.9 degrees. The average AT4X has approaches of 36.9 degrees, breakers of 24.5 degrees, and departures of 25 degrees. The Chevrolet Multimatic front and back hydraulic bump brakes are standard on the Canyon AT4X AEV and the Colorado ZR2 Bison. These brakes are made to handle the rough impacts of high-speed off-roading or to help the vehicle land after takeoff. The “Jounce Control Dampers” is an option for the GMC car, but the company hasn’t yet said how much they cost. The rear bumper has caps on each corner that can be taken off to show steel plates that can be used to slide over boulders and other challenging obstacles. The front bumper has a winch slot, making it easier to get to recovery spots. The AEV Edition has more skid plates than the original AT4X. These skid plates are more robust and help protect essential parts under the Canyon. The five pieces of boron steel armour cover the AEV’s radiator, steering gear, transmission and transfer case, fuel tank, and rear differential. The Canyon AT4X AEV Edition also has a full-size spare tire installed in the cargo bed, rock rails to protect the rocker panels, and unique 17-inch Salta wheels that can be deadlocked. The holes in the truck’s front fenders have also been made more prominent so the wider tires won’t rub. Also, the fender flares have been made more expensive because the front and back tracks of the AEV version are likely to be almost an inch wider than those of the regular AT4X. AT4X AEV Arrival and Cost The AEV Edition has the same engine as every other AT4X. The 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four machine has 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive and an automatic transmission with eight speeds come as standard. Both models of the Canyon’s Baja drive mode now have launch control. Like the 2024 Colorado ZR2, you can use the rotary knob on the center dash to get to it. To get going, push down on the stop pedal, tighten, and then let go of the throttle. GMC says that the launch mode can also adjust to different types of ground. This lets the system know if the car is on sand, gravel, or dirt. The top-of-the-line Canyon model’s interior is the same as the AT4X model’s, except that it has AEV-branded floor mats and headrests. All models also have a digital gauge cluster and an infotainment system with an 11.3-inch touchscreen. The second one works wirelessly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and can be updated over the air with the new Ultifi software. According to GMC, the 2024 Canyon AT4X AEV Edition will go on sale later this year. We have not determined the price, but the most extreme off-road version will start at about $70,000.
