GMC showed off a Canyon AT4X model, which looks like the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison that was shown off before. A deal will be made with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) to do this. The Canyon AT4X AEV, which has yet to be named, will likely come out later this year. The GMC Canyon seems to be getting an off-road kit similar to the ZR2 Bison kit for the Chevy Colorado. Under a cover, GMC gave a sneak peek of the newly updated pickup truck and showed the AEV logo, which showed a new partnership with American Expedition Vehicles. The most off-road-capable versions of the mid-size truck are the Colorado ZR2 package and the Canyon AT4X trim, both new for 2023. The AEV models go much further, and judging by how much Chevy talked up the ZR2 Bison prototype, this next model will be much more extreme. On the Bison, we saw big 35-inch tires, a higher suspension, wheels that could be deadlocked, and more. This GMC model was similar. Even though this trim’s name isn’t known, GMC may call it the “AEV Edition,” as it does with the Sierra 1500. This upgraded Canyon AT4X could have a more potent form of the standard high-output turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-four engine. The engine’s 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque may be slightly more for the AEV branch. Maintain vigilance for additional data concerning the off-road capabilities of these GM mid-size automobiles as it becomes available.
