BMW has been teasing the M5 Touring, a wagon version of the upcoming M5. Most likely, the M5 will have the same plug-in hybrid V-8 engine as the X.M. This engine can make up to 738 horsepower in the Label Red version. An exciting story from earlier this year said that BMW was bringing the wagon form to the U.S. Even if there were no chance of an M5 van, a new version of the BMW M5 would be enough to excite car fans. These new teaser photos show the future M5 Touring, piques our interest because the long-roof M5 might be brought to the U.S. Photos of the prototype show that the new M5 will use the latest 5-series bodywork from the G60 generation. It will also have flared fenders and an aggressive-looking back bumper with four exhaust tips. The wheels and tires are different sizes, with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires that are bigger in the back. BMW has stated that the M5 will have a hybrid drivetrain and be made like the BMW XM performance SUV. The top Label Red version of the car has a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine that makes 738 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque when paired with electric motors. Sources say that the M5 will only come in this high-output version, not the “base” 644-hp version that comes with the X.M. Plans call for steering on the back wheels, optional 22-inch wheels, and different drive modes that control everything from steering to the number of regenerative brakes. The only M5 models with a Touring version were the V-10-powered E60/E61 and the E34. Neither type was sold in the U.S. But Mercedes has sold the AMG E63 wagon in the U.S. for a long time, and Audi sells the RS6 Avant, so it wouldn’t be the first time BMW brought it here. Since the 2024 5-series is already on the market, we should hear more about the new M5 car soon, but we won’t hear anything about the wagon version for a while. Even though BMW says it will be available next year, we’re looking forward to it and hope to learn more about when it will be available in the United States.
