• About 80,000 BMW cars from the model years 2023 and 2024 have been called back by the company.
  • The recall is because the anti-lock braking and stability control systems aren’t as strong as they should be. If the power brake aid fails, the driver could lose control of the car.
  • The 2023 and 2024 5- and 7-series, the i5, the i7, the X1, the X5, the X6, the X7, and the XM are the cars that are protected.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has received recall paperwork from BMW for 79,670 cars that may have a problem with their brake systems.

BMW is recalling 79,670 cars because the brake systems could fail

There are a number of vehicles that have been hauled over, including the Rolls-Royce Spectre, the BMW 530i, 740i, 760i, i5, i7, X1, X5, X6, X7, and XM. The X1 (14,679), X5 (20,401), and X7 (29,578) models make up most of the recalled cars.

The NHTSA says that the built-in brakes on BMWs “may not function according to specifications.” This could make it harder for drivers to stop or even cause them to lose control of their cars, which makes accidents more likely.

According to the papers, if the brakes stop working, the emergency brake will work right away. Both the mechanical brakes and the emergency brake will still work even if there is a failure. BMW said that if there is a problem with the brakes, there will be a message or light in the instrument panel to let you know.

According to the NHTSA, letters telling owners will be sent out on April 5. If a car owner brings their affected vehicle to a nearby BMW or Rolls-Royce shop, the integrated braking system will be changed for free. Owners can check the NHTSA’s website for recalls to see if their car has been affected in the meantime.
