MW’s Concept Touring Coupé one-off shooting brake Z4 late last week shocked the auto business. If you’re disappointed that the modern clown shoe is just an idea, there’s still hope. It looks like BMW is willing to sell the thing, but only in tiny numbers and for supercar prices. At the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the company told the press that it would sell 50 clown shoe Z4s for about $270,000 each. Design leader Adrian van Hodson told BMW Blog that “two or three” people have already shown much interest. Cruz says the reported price is 250,000 euros, about $270,000. The Concept Touring Coupé has brown Poltroons Frau seats, a bigger trunk, and a bread van-style back end. BMW even gave the outside a light brown tint and added unique gold wheels to tie everything together, showing that it is very in tune with what Car Internet likes. If the closed-roof Z4 ever goes into semi-production, it wouldn’t be the first time that BMW brought back a car from the past only to sell very few of them. Remember the 3.0 CSL comeback the year before? Also, only 50 of these were sold by BMW. The most significant difference is that each car costs a whopping $780,000. No matter what happens with the Z4, one thing is sure: BMW has a version of this car that is much more appealing than the Toyota Supra, which is mechanically identical.
