• Chevy’s immensely popular Monte Carlo introduced “personal luxury” to the general public in the 1970s.
  • While hundreds of thousands were sold, how many were kept in good condition and driven for less than 6,000 miles?
  • This example also creates the look with its turbine wheels, green paint, and white vinyl Landau top.

The year is 1977. Radio Shack’s TRS-80 Micro Computer System just came out, but most Americans are more interested in the next wave of electronics made in Detroit: “personal luxury” cars. People like to drive this Chevy and other cars like it, which are about 18 feet long and have a V-8 engine under their long hoods, along Main Street while listening to Andy Gibb’s “I Just Want to Be Your Everything” on the radio. Following that, you can go to a nearby movie center to watch Star Wars, a small sci-fi movie.

Bring A Trailer To View The 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Seventies Time Capsule

This beautiful 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Landau car can take you back in time. It’s green on green, has white vinyl seats, and has a Landau top. It’s for sale on Bring a Trailer. As the kids say, it has a full feel. This car from the late 1970s is a time capsule for people who missed the Me Decade the first time around. It has only 5,600 miles on it.

In 1977, Chevrolet only sold a little more than 400,000 Monte Carlos. This is one of the nicest cars on the road right now. The first place it was sold was in Des Moines, Iowa. It’s in great shape, especially underneath.

Although this car is well-equipped for its time, the color scheme says it all. These days, even though the original buyer paid extra for them, a base-model car has to have air conditioning, cruise control, and a tilted steering column. They also put on a Landau roof, racing mirrors, and wheels that look like turbines—the height of luxury.

Under the hood, there is a 305-cubic-inch V-8 engine and a Hydra-Matic automatic drive with three speeds. Together, they make 140 horsepower. You don’t need to hurry, though, because you look great. Even less work is needed, thanks to power-assisted front disc brakes and lazy power steering.

The Monte Carlo was bid on and bought three years ago for $24,000 on BaT. This sale has no reserve price. This would be the perfect ride if you were making a documentary about the Carter administration or if you just wanted something to go with the leisure suit you found in your grandfather’s closet.

In the past, no one knew that Darth Vader had a father. This Chevy will take you back to that time. Back then, life was better. It took longer. That being said, everything looked great.

The last day to bid is October 22nd.
