For a car fan, the best thing is to see an old, broken-down car brought back to its former glory. This Eagle Talon TSi shows that with the proper detailing techniques, a dirty vehicle can look even better than you could have thought. The car was fixed up by WD Detailing, which put a video of the work on YouTube. After its engine broke, the all-wheel-drive vehicle had been idle for 12 years. Other outside panels also had faded paint and thick dirt and dust on them. Inside the car, things were pretty much the same. There was a lot of mold and dirt, which made it a terrible place to stay. The wheels were the first thing that got a lot of attention. They were given a full power wash after being correctly cleaned with cleaning products. There were clear signs of damage, and several lug nuts and wheel caps were missing. Still, they are good candidates for a lot of work to bring them back to their past glory. The body was cleaned with a power rinse to remove as much dirt buildup as possible before it was detailed. The area under the gas cap could also be cleaned with a little cleaner and vigorous brushing. It’s an area that most people ignore at the beginning of detailing, and if the dirt in that area gets washed away, all your hard work will be for nothing. After washing, the car was washed all over with foam and sponges to remove any leftover dirt. The team then “clay barbed” the vehicle unusually by putting a clay pad on a power buffer and running the car over it. The choice was made because the car’s paint was in bad shape. The claying process went much faster because of the cushion. The outside of the fix was then polished. The clear coat had long since peeled off the front bumpers and pop-up headlights, making them impossible to fix. Even though the car has been dirty for a long time, the rest shines well. The first step was to clean the inside, and then all trim pieces taken apart and thrown inside were taken out. It felt great when the moldy seats, center panel, and door cards were cleaned with steam and made to look almost as good as new. The carpet didn’t remove all the spots, but a wet/dry vacuum and a lot of degreasing did. It’s fantastic to see this classic car from the 1990s go from a dirty wreck to a project car that can be driven. Let’s hope it gets a new turbo heart soon to do exciting four-wheel burnouts.
