The Ocean SUV, made by Fisker for the first time, is finally coming to the U.S. market. Deliveries will start this month. The EPA says that reservation holders who pick the top-of-the-line Extreme model with 20-inch wheels will be happy with the car’s range of 360 miles. The Ocean’s long-distance driving estimate is better than its electric-SUV competitors. This puts Fisker in an excellent position to win as long as there aren’t any more problems with production. Even though some people are skeptical, the electric Fisker Ocean SUV is about to make a name for itself in America. The EPA thinks that the small crossover built well and looks nice, will have an expansive driving range of 360 miles. This number is better than competitors like the Nissan Ariya, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Tesla Model Y. The top-of-the-line Extreme trim with 20-inch wheels and a 113.0-kWh battery pack has the most extended range, while lower-end cars or Extreme ornaments with wider tires will likely get fewer miles per charge. We can’t wait to put an Ocean Extreme through its paces when it comes to our office. When that happens, we’ll put the SUV through its paces on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route to see how well its predicted range holds up in real-world driving conditions. E.V.s usually don’t make it as far as the EPA says they can, but the Ocean’s starting point of 360 miles should give it an edge over rivals. Even though the Ocean will start in November 2022, the company still needs to finish U.S. sales because the CARB certification process takes so long. It will be done this month, and shipping will start this month. Magna Steyr, a supplier in Austria, is assembling the Ocean along with other expensive cars like the Mercedes-Benz G-class and the Jaguar I-Pace. The first Ocean was sent to a buyer in Denmark in May 2023. This was the first time that Oceans were sent to Europe. Fisker also wants to make cars in the U.S., starting with the Pear, a small SUV, and moving on to the Ronin, a four-door convertible that will be their top model. Foxconn is said to make the Pear in Lordstown, Ohio.
