How often have you utilised the roof tent since? Overlanding is so popular that some want to mimic it, yet automobile camping is intriguing because it incorporates your car. Off-grid overlanders can meet most of their demands with the correct gear. These modified trucks and SUVs roam campgrounds for food, shelter, and “business.” This makes escaping easy and believable. A customised Hummer EV will illustrate GMC and EarthCruiser’s vision of all-electric overlanding. Most new cars are going electric. Electric off-roaders may fight overlanding. Unless you’re doing short journeys or your wilderness has charging stations, a gas- or diesel-powered vehicle will take you farther off the usual road. EarthCruiser Overland Vehicles’ bizarre Hummer is the perfect example. EarthCruiser is a well-known automobile manufacturer. The Hummer EV Overlander, a concept that will be released this summer, has few details. The Terranova, based on the F-350 and Ram 3500 trucks, is made by the same team that named the Isuzu NPR-based cabover. Both automobiles include pop-up tops, sinks, hidden toilets, and other amenities that make them like mobile homes. A 3-kW generator generates AC power from the 400-ah, 12-volt battery. Flexible low-profile solar cells charge the battery. EarthCruiser has already landed an EV. Tiny slide-in campgrounds for all-electric cars are being built. EarthCruiser initiated this program in January, and the GMC Hummer EV may be the first vehicle to demonstrate this innovative camping method. Unless the beds differ, any changes to the Hummer EV overlander will likely be made to the mechanically identical Sierra Denali EV and Chevrolet Silverado EV. The teaser photo displays a taller roof than other Hummer EVs. It covers the bed from the front of the car. Earthcruiser and Terranova roofs should pop up. A side-mounted luggage system and total solar panels will power this roof’s “house” batteries. Changing the photo reveals the “Hummer EV + EarthCruiser” emblem on those packs and the EV3X and Edition 1’s optional bronze beadlock-capable wheels. Unfortunately, this photo tells us nothing further, and GMC and EarthCruiser will reveal something when the spaceship ships later this year. Despite its size and difficulty off-road, the Hummer EV can tackle dangerous terrain and go fast. We’re curious.
