Think about this: the Rimac Nevera will go from 0 to 249 mph faster than the first HyperCard, the McLaren F1, took to go from 0 to 217 mph. Oh, this Croatian-designed and -engineered electric vehicle (EV) will be faster than every other HyperCard on the road. This was shown in a recent test session in Germany, where it broke 23 claimed speed records in a single day.

When you press the accelerator pedal in the Rimac Nevera just right, it feels like you are firing a gun. Look at these numbers, which Rimac says were checked by engineers from Archeologic and Dewesoft, two companies that keep track of speed data: From 1.74 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour, 1.82 seconds to run 124 miles per hour, and 0 to 186 mph in 9.23 seconds. It takes 21.32 seconds to go from 0 to 249 mph. Here are the photos from the day:

The Nevera finished the quarter-mile at the famous American dragstrip in 8.26 seconds, more than a second faster than the best time we got in the Tesla Model S Plaid a few years ago. For the record, the Nevera got to 60 mph a quarter second and 100 mph, a little bit faster than the Model S Plaid. The Nevers finished the standing mile in 20.6 seconds, which is good news for fans of the Bonneville.

Rimac says that all times were set at the Automotive Testing Papen burg site on asphalt that had yet to be cleaned and with standard, road-legal Michelin Cup 2 R tires. They also have the typical one-foot rollout that we at MotorTrend have used for years in our performance tests.

Even the powerful 16-cylinder, 1,578-horsepower Bugatti Chiron Super Sport will be left gasping by the 1,914-horsepower Never, which has four motors. The Never, which ran at a top speed of 256 mph at Papen burg last year and broke the record for the fastest EV road car, didn’t need any remarkable changes to reach those speeds.
