As someone who has been wanting a new Land Cruiser ever since Toyota brought them back to the US but is afraid to buy one because they are easily damaged by machine gun fire, I have some bad news for you. Inkas Armored has made a new bulletproof Toyota Land Cruiser that can handle being shot at with an assault gun while driving on the trails. Inkas Armored says that the bulletproof Land Cruiser has a “BR6” armor rating, which is the highest level of security for a civilian car that can be used without a special permit. In other words, it can keep its people safe from hand grenades and 7.62×51 mm assault rifle rounds. Plates of armor are put in the doors, the floor, the pillars, the firewall, and around the gas tank and batteries to make a cocoon of security that should meet CEN (European Committee for Standardization) standards. Strong polycarbonate plates inside the tires and military-grade ballistic glass behind the windows protect people inside the Land Cruiser even when the tires are flat. Open two doors in the back to get into the passenger area. One of the doors is a beautiful protected door behind the back tailgate. With all of that armor covering, the Land Cruiser will be much heavier than usual, but Inkas doesn’t say how much it weighs at the curb. The four-cylinder hybrid engine, which makes 326 horsepower, is slow, which will be interesting to look into. Will it be hurt by the extra weight it has for off-roading? As Inkas says, it has better suspension to handle it. But what good will this do on the trail? It doesn’t matter because customers are likely willing to pay more for better security, even if it means giving up some off-road potential. Adding a few more things can make you even safer, like if you killed John Wick’s dog and need to protect yourself from his knowledge of guns and armor plans. Inkas adds extras like safety for the exhaust and radiator (which is often missed in movies), fire suppression in the engine bay, bulletproofing, and even an escape hatch in the roof in case he gets inside. You can also choose an oxygen filtering system, LED strobe lights, a camera that can see in the dark, or a siren/PA system. Sociologists writing in the style of Adam McKay might say that now that the Land Cruiser has finally come back to North America, it needs to be bulletproofed, but I’ll let the experts decide that. One of the best things about one of its most famous electric trucks is that they come “bulletproof” from the factory. This shows that the US has a big market for armored vehicles. Will famous people who have to deal with kidnappings and gun crime every day choose a Land Cruiser over a bigger, fancier car like an Escalade or S-Class? As a commoner, I’m not sure. Customers can still feel safe, though, even if they live in an area with fewer paved roads, thanks to this protected Landy.
