• Lexus will offer a cheaper front-wheel-drive model of the RZ in 2024, along with the current all-wheel-drive type.
  • The EPA says the new RZ300e can go up to 266 miles with front-wheel drive, which is 46 miles farther than the RZ450e. It starts at $55,150, which is $4,700 less than the RZ450e.
  • A single 201-horsepower electric engine is powered by a 72.8-kWh battery pack in the ’24 Lexus RZ300e.

As of now, the Lexus RZ is the only electric car the high-end company makes, and it has yet to take the world by storm. Even though it had some nice Lexus features, the RZ450e with all-wheel drive could have been better for an electric SUV. One of our main issues was that it had a short driving range. The good news is that a new front-wheel drive system for the 2024 model year not only makes the range much longer but also costs less.

For 2024, the front-wheel drive Lexus RZ300e will have more power and cost less

The RZ300e can go farther

The front-wheel-drive Lexus RZ300e will take the place of the all-wheel-drive RZ450e in 2024. Lexus says that the FWD RZ’s unique subframe is meant to reduce noise and vibration and replaces the AWD model’s 107-hp electric motor on the back axle.

The RZ300e still has a 201-hp electric engine in the front, but it gets its power from a different battery pack than the RZ450e. Different companies worked together to make the front-drive car, which is bigger than the all-wheel-drive car. For 2024, Lexus also includes a charge port that works with both 120V and 240V.

The EPA says that an RZ300e with standard 18-inch wheels can go 266 miles on a single charge. With the same size rollers, that’s 46 miles farther than the RZ450e’s 220-mile range. If you choose the more stylish 20-inch wheels, the FWD model’s range drops to 226 miles, but it’s still 30 miles longer than the AWD model of the same type (196 miles).

It costs less to buy the RZ300e

The high prices of Lexus cars, even SUVs, show that it is a high-end name. Of course, this includes its only EV offering. Last year, the RZ450e cost $59,650, which is only $200 more than it does now, at $59,850. That’s for the base Premium model. The Luxury model starts at $65,580, which is $3,430 more than the last generation.

The RZ300e costs $4700 less than the RZ450e. The Premium model with front-wheel drive costs at least $55,150. This is with the 18-inch wheels that come standard. The 20-inch wheels that can be added for an extra $1240. On the other hand, the Luxury trim costs $60,880 and only comes with dubs.

There is a new paint color for the 2024 Lexus RZ. It is called Copper Crest. It comes in both one-color and two-color external styles. With the Luxury trim, the center console looks like charcoal, and the doors have a new, more ornate lit pattern.

Improved features have been added to the EV SUV to help the driver. New technology includes a new feature that stops you from turning left when another car is coming up behind you and technology that gently stops and moves you away from accidents. The adaptive cruise control can now change speed even more accurately around turns. This month, you’ll be able to buy the Lexus RZ 2024 line.
