In 2024, Toyota will change the GR86 racing car and release a “Trueno Edition.” The limited-edition model is meant to look like the AE86 Corolla, which was made in the 1980s and was also called the Sprinter Trueno. Now, Sachs springs and Brembo brakes are part of the Performance package. Toyota has made several limited-edition versions of its 86 sports cars. The most recent is the 2024 GR86, which is meant to pay tribute to the famous AE86 Sprinter Trueno from the 1980s. It has a two-tone colour scheme, a unique logo, and many interior changes. The name of it is the Trueno Edition. The GR86 now has a Performance package, one of several new features and other changes for the current model year. It has black side lines, door handles, mirror trim, and a black duckbill spoiler. The front and back of the car have Trueno logos, and the number plate on the dashboard shows that it is one of 860 cars made for the American market. Red leather, red stitching, and floor mats with Trueno logos decorate the inside. Other 2024 GR86 cars can choose to get the new Performance package, but the Trueno already has it. It has Sachs dampers and Brembo brakes with wider rotors than a standard vehicle. The front and back rotor widths are 12.8 inches and 12.4 inches, respectively, compared to 11.6 inches and 11.4 inches on a classic car. Toyota said that current 2022 and 2023 GR86 buyers could get the package as a retrofit if the car has 18-inch wheels. The only way to get this package will be through the dealer. Many features only available on cars with automatic transmissions are now available on GR86 models with manual transmissions. Stick-shift cars now have adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and a few other features built-in as standard. Toyota hasn’t said how much the 2024 GR86 and its new features will cost yet, but we should find out more before the car goes on sale later this year.
