  • Ford has given $7 million to help people after a disaster and $1.5 million to Team Rubicon.

When something terrible happens in a community where a company is based, they often give money or cars to help. Ford said it would provide $2.5 million to Team Rubicon, a group run by veterans, over the next five years.

The Environmental Protection Agency says that about 29% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the United States come from transportation, which includes passenger cars. Climate change experts have warned that rising world temperatures could worsen weather disasters. In 2022, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts 18 extreme weather events, each costing at least $1 billion. This was reported by NBC News.

Ford’s fleet of cars has reflective covers

Ford will give Team Rubicon 17 electric and hybrid vehicles, including 15 pickup trucks and two four-door Broncos with off-road packages. This is in addition to the monetary donation that was already revealed. Ten F-150 XL Power Boost Hybrid cars, three F-150 Lightning Pro trucks, and two Super Duty F-350 XL trucks will make up that group of trucks. Ford picked these 15 models because they can carry heavy loads, like food or medical supplies, and because they all have some Pro Power Onboard technology that can be used for rescue missions and other things. The fleet of 17 vehicles will also have a wrap with a co-branded design and bright accents to make them easier to see at night.
Ford is giving through its charitable fund, the Ford Motor Company Fund, which recently gave $7 million to help people worldwide affected by disasters. In 2022, Ford and the Ford Fund provided over $64 million to charity.

The start of Team Rubicon was in Haiti

In 2010, a big earthquake hit Haiti, leading to Team Rubicon’s creation. With the help of more than 150,000 volunteers, the group, which veterans run, helps communities “before, during, and after disasters and crises” worldwide. The United States is where Team Rubicon is based.

Ford will give its workers paid time off to participate in Team Rubicon’s charity work. In 2021 and 2023, floods in Detroit destroyed many homes, and Ford workers helped Team Rubicon rebuild them. Detroit and Houston will be the first to get this new donation from Ford workers.
